When to expect an update on meizu os. How to flash Meizu, installing the official OS version. How notifications work

The modern world of technology is increasingly developing, and new models of mobile devices are appearing that are becoming more ergonomic and powerful. Smartphones are becoming a part of our lives and are becoming increasingly important.

Today the market is filled with models from Chinese manufacturers, such as the Meizu phone. They have quite good characteristics and in the future they can compete with well-known brands.

In order to carry out this procedure, you should first find good firmware for your model. It is very important to understand that developers release several main types of these updates, which differ in functionality and other technical parameters.

You can download the firmware file on specialized websites or forums, where you can select the necessary data. The installation procedure can be divided into several successive steps:

    1. The first step is to copy the firmware file to the root of the phone.
    2. Turn off the phone.
    3. Then you need to turn on the device by holding down the “On” and “Volume Up” buttons at the same time. An update dialog should appear.
    4. Then we indicate to the phone “Update” (System Upgrade) and wait until it independently installs the new firmware version.

Updating over the air

You can update your Meizu phone using a special application that is responsible for this function. To do this, you need to go into it and allow it to search for new updates. It is very important to have a wireless connection so that the smartphone can download the necessary files.

When the device detects the current version of software updates, you need to click the “Install updates” button. You can also specify in the service settings the ability to synchronize and search for new versions automatically.

You can install updates manually after the program has downloaded all the files. The algorithm for this work may depend on the version of your phone. If you encounter errors, you can find out more about them on thematic forums, where there are possible solutions to them.

Please understand that the quality of updates depends on the phone itself. If you install bad firmware, your Russian language may fail and you will need to roll back changes or reflash the firmware. Therefore, be very careful when performing this procedure.
How to update your Meizu phone is shown in the video:

In anticipation of the release of the final version of Flyme 6, we would like to tell you in detail how to correctly update the firmware on a MEIZU smartphone. Today we will look at the option of clearing data and then restoring the backup, since this method is quite fast and recommended by the Flyme community. I note that updating the software without clearing data is only permissible within one version of Flyme, but stable operation of the device is still not guaranteed. When changing the Flyme version, for example, from Flyme 5 to Flyme 6, cleaning is required, and a backup copy with its subsequent restoration will help you not to install or configure the device again, since all data will be saved in its original form.

Let's get started!

Downloading the firmware

You can download the current firmware version on our website in the section or on the official Russian MEIZU website using this link. In both cases, we need to select our smartphone and download the firmware specifically for it.

You can download the update either directly to your smartphone via the built-in browser, or to your computer and then copy the firmware file to the device.

Personally, I find it more convenient to download the update directly to my smartphone, so as not to spend a few extra minutes copying the archive to the device.

Once the firmware download is complete, we need to transfer the update archive, which has the name “update.zip,” to the root folder of the smartphone’s memory. To do this, go to the standard “Explorer” application, in it click on “Local Files”, select the “Download” folder. Depending on the version of Flyme and the built-in browser, the firmware file can be located either here or in the "Browser" folder, which is located in the "Download" folder. In our case, "update.zip" was downloaded to the "Download" folder.

We make a long tap on the “update.zip” file so that it is highlighted with a checkmark and click the “Move” button, after which we click “Internal memory” and “Move...”. That's it, now our update file is in the right place. Let's leave it here for now and move on to the backup.

Backup SMS and call history

The first thing I recommend starting with creating a backup copy is this backup of messages and call history. To do this, I suggest using the free SMS Backup & Restore program. You can download it from Google Play using this link.

Download the application and go into it.

We will see a simple and intuitive interface. We are interested in the “Make a backup” item. The program will offer to create a backup copy in Google Drive, Dropbox or in the smartphone’s memory itself. The shortest way is to save the SMS backup on your smartphone in the default folder. This is what we will do by clicking on “Local Backup” and “Default Application Folder”.

I recommend leaving the checkboxes on the next screen as they are. Unless you use MMS, you can additionally save MMS messages. Now click on “Archive now”, wait for the process to complete and see how many SMS and calls were copied.

At the end, the program will offer to configure automatic saving of backups. We click no, since we only need a backup copy to update the firmware.

It is important to make a copy using SMS Backup & Restore before the main backup, so that both the program and our backup copy are saved along with a full backup copy of the smartphone.

Backing up settings and programs

To create a backup copy of settings, programs (with settings), contacts, calendar and photos, we will use the backup utility built into Flyme. To do this, let's follow the path: Settings - About phone - Memory - Copy and restore.

Click the big BACKUP button and check the boxes for everything except SMS, MMS and Call Logs, since we created a copy of them earlier.

The backup process will begin and will take some time. As soon as the copying is completed, the utility will notify you of the success of this operation. Click DONE and proceed to the actual flashing.

Firmware update

You can start flashing the device through "Explorer", so go into it, click "Local files" and scroll down to the file with the firmware.

Tap on the file name, be sure to check the box next to “Clear data” and click “Update now”.

The flashing process will begin, which will last about 10-15 minutes. I recommend keeping your smartphone on charge all this time so that it doesn’t suddenly turn off during flashing.

Restoring backups

After flashing the firmware and clearing the data, we received a pristine smartphone, just like after purchase. We need to carry out the initial setup and then restore our backups.

If you don’t know how to do the initial setup, I described this process in detail in this article:

As soon as we are on the desktop of a freshly flashed smartphone, we go along the path Settings - Storage and backup (in Flyme 6 this item is made separately) - Copy and recovery.

Select our backup and click “Restore”.

The restore process will begin, which will take slightly longer than creating a backup. During recovery, a Google Installer window will pop up and begin automatically restoring Google services. To understand when the restoration of all data is complete, you need to return through the multitasking menu (swipe up from the bottom edge of the display) to the built-in backup utility.

As soon as we see the coveted 100% and the “done” button, we need Necessarily Restart your smartphone so that the desktop icons return to their places.

After the reboot, all we have to do is restore the call and SMS history. To do this, open SMS Backup & Restore, click “Restore”, select “Local backup storage” and click “Restore”.

Hello friends. The other day, MEIZU released the long-awaited update to the stable version of Flyme 6.1.0.0G for M3s, M2 note, PRO6 and MX5. For those who are not in the subject. Meizu has postponed the release of the stable version a huge number of times. There was closed beta testing and a discussion of user requests. Meizu was asked, and belittled, and hated for all it was worth. What can we say about the fact that everyone cherished the hope of the release of Flyme 6.1.0.0G with Android 6 on board. But my friends, the Miracle did not happen. Yes, a lot of work has really been done, the menu and the very principle of operation of the operating system have been optimized. All the innovations and goodies that were announced take place in the new version of Flyme 6.1.0.0G.

But damn MEIZU, it’s the third quarter of 2017, all your competitors have long been offering Android 7 out of the box or have updated their older models. All this is reminiscent of the situation with Samsung, when after the release of the device a couple of updates came and that was the end of support for the device. As a result, the user had to buy a new smartphone in order to be able to use a newer version of Android. According to rumors, closed beta testing of Flyme on Android 7 begins this week, but given how MEIZU releases updates for its devices, I'm afraid we'll have to wait a long time for a stable version for our devices. Personally, I decided that my next smartphone should be on Android 8. And here's why. Google stated that starting with version 8 they are moving to a modular building system. This makes it possible to update the system kernel to new versions without the participation of smartphone manufacturers. It follows from this that smartphone manufacturers will concentrate their efforts on producing hardware and licking the shell, while Android itself will be updated from Google servers. But wait and see.

And so, if you still have the desire to update your smartphone to Flyme 6.1.0.0G, then you can do it as follows.

Click the Download button and select the brand of your phone on the official Flyme OS website. Download the update and act according to the instructions.

1. Always update the device firmware when the battery has sufficient charge (at least 20%)!

Note: clearing data (“Clear Data”) involves deleting current settings, phone book entries, messages, notes, mail accounts, as well as installed third-party software. This does not affect data such as music, videos, photos and other files contained in the phone.

Please take care in advance to create backup copies of the necessary information by synchronizing the data with your Flyme account.

3. Downgrading the firmware version (rolling back to an earlier one) must also be performed with data clearing (“Clear Data”).

4. If, as a result of updating the firmware, crashes of programs and other errors are observed, it is recommended to update the firmware again, making sure to check the “Clear Data” option.

Firmware update instructions

Option I

2. Open the Explorer application on your phone's desktop
3. Scroll down the list of folders and files and click on the firmware file located there
4. Check the “Clear Data” option in the dialog box, if necessary, and then click the “OK” button.

Option II

1. Download the update.zip firmware file to the phone (to the root of the disk) in USB storage mode (Settings - About phone - Memory - Connect as MTP media device)
2. Turn off your phone
3. When turning on, hold down the “Power” and “Volume Up” buttons simultaneously until the MEIZU logo appears
4. In the firmware update window that loads, check the “System Upgrade” option and, if necessary, the “Clear Data” option, then click the “Start” button on the screen

5. Wait until the firmware process is completed - the phone will reboot automatically

Option III (requires internet connection on phone)

1. Open your phone’s Internet browser, visit the website www.mymeizu.ru and go to the “Support and Service” section, in which select your phone model and then open the “Software” subsection
2. Select the desired version from the available list of firmwares and download the update.zip firmware file to your phone (the downloaded file will be located in the “Download” folder of the built-in File Explorer)
3. Open the “Explorer” application on the phone’s desktop and move the update.zip firmware file from the “Download” folder to the root folder of the phone (“Disk”)
4. Scroll down the list of folders and files in the root folder of Explorer and click on the update.zip firmware file located there

5. Check the “Clear Data” option in the dialog box, if necessary, and then click the “OK” button

6. Wait until the firmware process is completed - the phone will reboot automatically

Peculiarities:

PLEASE NOTE: This firmware does not include Google services (for example, Google Play Store, Google Maps and Google Framework) by default. To install these services on your Meizu smartphone, the user needs to launch the system application by clicking on the “Hot Apps” (or “App Store”) shortcut on the home screen, and then select the “Google Apps Installer” utility from the recommended applications. The installation will take place automatically (you must have a connection to a Wi-Fi network or mobile data connection); after successful installation of Google services, the device will reboot.

When closing applications, the FlymeOS task manager terminates the corresponding processes and frees up RAM. If you want a certain process (application) to continue running in the background, then add the appropriate permission to it in the “Security” system application (the shortcut to which is located on the desktop).

Adviсe:

This firmware is the first stable version. We suggest you back up your data first and then clear your user data before installing it.

If you receive an update error message when trying to install this update, first update your system to Flyme 5.1.12.1G and try again.

If you want to switch back to Flyme 5 from this version, you will need to clear your user data first.

In general, the thing is that over time there are more and more notifications and you want to receive messages less and less. You are less likely to be distracted by trivial matters, so I’ll explain how to remove unnecessary things and set everything up beautifully.

How notifications work

If pop-up notifications on the lock screen are enabled in your settings, then messages and calls will appear there. You can immediately read or reply to a received message; you don’t even need to unlock your phone. In the same way, you can answer a missed call or post on Twitter - simply and conveniently.

In addition, you can set the priority for notifications by pressing and holding your finger on the line, after which a pop-up menu will appear. If a notification has received priority, then it will be located above the rest, without having to scroll through the list.

How to turn off notifications

Go to the Security section - Application notifications - Disable everything unnecessary here. What exactly, you choose yourself, remove the green checkmarks from all the items.

Go to the Security section - Software permissions - Click on the application - Disable notifications. At the same time, you can remove notifications from the lock screen, but leave them in the menu, if that is more convenient.

Let's consider another option. For example, a notification has arrived, but you no longer want to receive them. Then pull out the curtain, press your finger on the text and hold it for a few seconds, after which you just have to select the desired item.

Or here's another scenario. If you receive notifications from the standard browser built into Flyme OS, then do this. Launch the browser, click on the three dots located in the lower right corner. After that, go to Settings, and there we turn off push notifications by clicking on the button. That's all!

What does the Flyme update give the user? Is it worth installing the latest Flyme update? Step-by-step instructions on how to safely update Flyme. Go?

OS Flyme is a proprietary operating system of Meizu Technology Co. Ltd., assembled for a number of smartphones of this brand based on one of the versions of Android OS. Thanks to Flyme, users of Meizu devices get more functions that are “undocumented” in classic Android. Each Flyme update brings new features and interface changes. Therefore, all owners of smartphones from Meizu are waiting for the latest Flyme OS update.

What do OS Flyme updates provide?

The Flyme OS update expands the functionality of the smartphone software and optimizes the operation of the mobile device hardware. For example, the following innovations were implemented in the FLYME 5.1.6.0G update:

  • there is an option to set different melodies for two SIM cards
  • the “Serial Shots” album has appeared, which will contain frames taken in burst mode
  • added User Center – operating system user center
  • increased camera shutter speed
  • Improved sound quality in system messages
  • added a special section for installing software via USB.

And this is not even 10 percent of all the declared changes that users saw with the latest Flyme update. Therefore, all owners of Meizu phones that support this environment should monitor the “freshness” of the version of the Flyme operating system. After all, every update makes your device an even more perfect and technically advanced device.

How to update Flyme - official version

  • At the very beginning, you need to find the latest Flyme update that is suitable specifically for your phone. The official update page is flymeos.com. If a suitable smartphone model is not on the list yet, be patient, it may appear in the near future. Meizu releases updates to its OS every 2-3 months. For example, M3 Max received Flyme 5.2.5.0G on October 17, but for M3E this upgrade was released only on December 23, 2016.
  • If the update you need is found on the official website, then you should Charge your smartphone battery up to 100 percent and start downloading the archive with the update directly in the phone’s browser, specifying the root memory folder as the save location. And this is very important, since most complaints: “Flyme update does not arrive” are provoked by incorrect saving of the update.zip archive. And if you received the message “Firmware not found” during the installation stage, this means that update.zip was not downloaded to the root directory of the phone’s data storage.

Important note: if the phone's battery charge is less than 65 percent, it is not recommended to download and install the OS update yourselfm manufacturer. During installation and debugging, the phone may turn off and the system will not be updated.

  • After the download is complete, you transfer the phone to Super user mode(). Moreover, this step can be done before installing the Flyme update. There isn't much difference.
  • After activating Root rights, you need to put the phone in Recovery mode. To do this, you need to turn off your smartphone and turn it on while holding I use the power button and the volume + rocker. You need to hold these keys until the word “MEIZU” appears and you go to the “System Upgrade” menu.
  • Once in the System Upgrade menu, you can reset the contents of your phone's data storage by deleting old photos, videos, games and documents. System files are not deleted. To start life from scratch, click on Clear Data. If you need to save all user data, then skip this step.
  • The command to start updating the operating system is given by selecting the System Upgrade option. After this, click on the virtual “Start” button.
  • Next, you just have to be patient and wait for the operating system update to complete. Upon completion of the upgrade, the phone will go into preboot, so don’t panic if the smartphone turns itself off - this is a good sign.
  • Finally, you repeat the procedure for “first launching” the smartphone. That is, the language and network are selected again, familiarization with the rules of use and all that.

That's all. Now you know how to install the Flyme update. Don't neglect updating your operating system in a timely manner, and your phone will delight you with new features and optimization of old features.
