Nokia lumia 930 specifications. Bluetooth is a standard for secure wireless data transfer between different types of devices over short distances.

Today we will get acquainted with the smartphone Nokia Lumia 930 - the new flagship on the platform Windows phone, out of the box running on the latest version of this operating system. What kind of smartphone did the legendary Finnish company create, is it worth it to replace its flagship with Android, or is it another device for fans mobile platform Microsoft? We will answer these and other questions in this review.

Equipment

The Lumia 930 comes in a compact box similarly designed latest smartphones Nokia, for example. However, this time the delivery package is a little “richer”: a USB cable was added to the AC-60E charger with an output current of 1.5 A and documentation, there is no headset in the kit.

The lack of bundled headphones is not the biggest loss, but the packaging could be more in line with the price of a smartphone. At first (until 08/12/2014), while the smartphone is presented exclusively in the ALLO network, they will give it as a gift Qi wireless charging Nokia DT-601.

Design and ergonomics

Original appearance and quality materials are a characteristic feature latest generations Finnish smartphones, and the hero of the review confirms this once again. Nokia Lumia 930 received a non-separable rectangular body made of glass, metal and plastic.

The front panel of the smartphone is covered with curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protective glass. The part of the glass that covers the matrix is flat, and the bend "falls" on the frames, which achieves a spectacular appearance. Above the screen you can see a thin slit of the earpiece, front camera and a gray logo of the manufacturer, below the screen - three touch-sensitive system control keys with backlight and a microphone hole.
The completely flat sides of the smartphone are made of aluminum. In the middle of the bottom there is an interface connector, to the left and right of it is engraved service information. Physical control keys are concentrated on the right, from bottom to top they go: a two-position camera key, a power button and a paired volume key, the left sidewall is empty. The central part of the upper edge is occupied by a headphone jack, next to it is a tray for a nano-SIM card. Having taken out a new smartphone from the box, the tray can be pulled out by a special tape, the next time - just by prying it with a fingernail or other suitable objects, a paper clip is no longer required. Most likely, the metal frames serve as antennas, so the interface and 3.5 mm jacks are marked with plastic inserts separating aluminum.

The back of the smartphone is made of plastic, it is slightly convex. On it you can see the Nokia logo, a small multimedia speaker slot, a dual LED flash and a camera lens with the PureView and Zeiss logos. At the top and bottom of the lid, you can see small holes for microphones designed to record high-quality stereo sound. The manufacturer declares the presence of four microphones, the fourth, most likely, is hidden in the slot of the speaker.

The design of the side keys resembles that of the LG Nexus 5 - their surface is shiny, the shape is similar, they are similar in tactile sensations, that is, they are perfectly groped in the blind and are comfortable in everyday use.

The assembly of the smartphone is excellent - the design is rigid and cannot be twisted, the fitting of parts is at a normal level, nothing backlashes or creaks, the screen does not sag even when pressed hard. For all its squareness, Lumia 930 fits comfortably in the hand, the corners do not cut into the palm, the weight is pleasantly felt, although these are rather subjective parameters that are best checked personally.

Note that in addition to the black device that was reviewed, the smartphone is available in green, orange and calm white colors. In addition to the color of the lid, they differ in the natural color of the aluminum sidewalls.

Operating system

Nokia Lumia 930 running operating system Windows systems Phone 8.1 (Nokia Cyan update). A new version OC brought separate volume levels for the ringtone and applications, a notification curtain with toggles, a keyboard with gesture input, and other innovations that can be read about in official sources.

The importance of most "innovations" is hard to overestimate, because they at least slightly increase the usability of a smartphone. At the same time, the overall impression of the system has not changed significantly, it still has a lot of room for improvement. What is the interface of an incoming call worth when you first need to move the curtain up, and only then choose whether to answer or reset the call, a giant list of settings, the arrangement of items in which is devoid of any logic.

These roughnesses are greatly exacerbated by a minimum set of high-quality programs from third party developers- this is exactly the worst feature of the platform, because of which it is able to satisfy only users with modest requests.

Hardware platform

From the point of view of the hardware platform, Lumia 930 is completely similar to last year's flagship ceiling. This means it boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC with four Krait 400 cores running at 2.2GHz and powerful Adreno 330 graphics. WiFi 802.11ac.

The smartphone works quickly, like all devices on Windows Phone. But the potential of the used system-on-chips is redundant, so resource-demanding applications are not yet available in the store. At the same time, the optimization of some programs, both pre-installed and third-party, leaves much to be desired. Sometimes you can see the characteristic inscriptions "Resuming ..." at startup individual applications or second delays, for example, the opening of the curtain can occur with a noticeable jerk if too many notifications have accumulated in it. Other features include the emerging Bing Health and Fitness app, which has a built-in pedometer that counts steps whenever you move in space - whether you are driving in a car, on the subway or somewhere else - the smartphone considers that you are walking .

There were no complaints about the operation of the GPS module, Wi-Fi is relatively slow. The smartphone is prone to heat, it is negligible in games and during everyday work, but the device quickly becomes hot with active use of the camera, and wireless charging increases the temperature to an unpleasant level.

Playing video in popular codecs is a long-standing windows problem Phone, which remains unresolved today. At the same time, you can’t rely on third-party players, for example, neither MoliPlayer Pro nor MKV Player Pro simply “saw” test videos in the smartphone’s memory. Nokia Lumia 930 performs well as a music player. It provides good playback quality and an average maximum volume; not every headphone will “shake” the smartphone.

The speaker volume is sufficient for comfortable communication in most situations. The call speaker has a pleasant surround sound and medium volume, but it is poorly located - it is easy to block it, so an incoming call can be missed. The vibrating alert is medium in strength, its short rare vibration is not always felt.

The built-in battery has a capacity of 2420 mAh. With the active use of the camera and other functions, the user can count on a day of work, in a sparing mode, two days of work are achievable.

Display

The Nokia Lumia 930 features a 5-inch Full HD ClearBlack OLED display. Its minimum brightness is 3.4 cd/m2, the maximum is 286.7 cd/m2. It can be used with gloves, in the settings you can select a color profile or independently change the color temperature, hue, color saturation. It is possible to turn on the screen by double tapping on it, but displaying the time and notifications on the screen off (Nokia Glance) is not supported. There is no air gap.

In life, the smartphone screen looks very decent. The matrix provides deep blacks and vibrant colors. One of its main advantages is excellent readability in the sun, the image remains perfectly distinguishable even under the direct rays of the scorching sun. An oleophobic coating of medium quality is used - fingerprints are not too noticeable, but it is better to use microfiber to completely remove them. The brightness of the display changes dynamically, it depends on the image that is currently displayed on the screen, so the actual maximum brightness may be higher than measured with manual settings.

When the brightness is set to minimum, the image takes on an unpleasant gray-pink tint. In fact, this can be called the only criticism of the screen.

cameras

The smartphone has two cameras. The main camera module is notable for its 20MP sensor, PureView technology, Zeiss optics, f/2.4 aperture and dual LED flash. Module front camera has a resolution of 1.23 megapixels, f / 2.4 aperture.

Both cameras demonstrate fairly good image quality, we should also note a soft flash, good sound recording quality when shooting video. The image quality is a little worse compared to the current Android flagships, but it still remains quite high. More critical moments may not be fast enough for a modern flagship, the speed of launching the camera, focusing and saving pictures. Below you can find examples with photos and videos under different shooting conditions.

Results

As a result, Nokia Lumia 930 is the new flagship on the Windows Phone platform. Traditionally, the device stands out for its design, body materials and good photo component. At the same time, it remains absolutely incomprehensible why the hero of the review appears on the market only now, because the Lumia 1520, completely similar in terms of hardware and photographic capabilities, appeared on the market in November 2013 and has already disappeared from official retail.

Compared to the Android flagships of 2014, the Lumia 930 features a slightly lower price and bonus wireless charging that early adopters get. In all other respects, it will turn out to be weaker, because in fact we have a model that would be relevant at the end of 2013 and we need to compare it with smartphones of this period, and they are already about 30% cheaper. That is why Nokia Lumia 930 is another flagship that will be of interest exclusively to fans of the brand and the Windows Phone platform, who were waiting for a device with a regular-sized screen.

0.56 W/kg (watt per kilogram)

The latest flagship under the Nokia brand. Is it sad?! In the fall we will see a new flagship product already with the inscription "Microsoft".

The black device looks quite boring, reminiscent of some kind of business smartphone. Due to its compact size, it lies perfectly in the palm of your hand, it is easy to operate with one hand. The rear matte panel perfectly collects fingerprints, and glossy buttons on one of the sides of the case quite successfully collect them. For a week of use, the paint on the metal rim from below was rubbed in the pocket. And this is on a smartphone, which officially costs almost 30 thousand rubles. The assembly also leaves a very mediocre impression, the back cover in the camera area somehow flexes when pressed, gaps are visible. In general, the quality is not the same at all. I thought that once the story about the backlash of the case would not be relevant, but this time has not come yet.

I really, really like the display. The screen displays the black color really as it is, as our human eye sees it. At the same time, automatic brightness control works just fine. Let me remind you that detailed settings there is no brightness, there are only three main modes plus automatic. So, on the street, the font thickness and color shades change slightly and become more readable, while indoors, the font thickness becomes smaller. It's just an unrealistically useful idea, I hope that competitors will peep and copy a similar principle of automatic display operation. Information from the screen is visible perfectly even under the rays of the bright Kuban sun. The screen is made using AMOLED technology, it is at the level of the Galaxy S4 according to those. process, makes a very pleasant impression. And no QHD resolutions are needed there when there is the usual FullHD resolution. The display is the most comfortable for the eyes. I liked the screen.

The camera on the Lumia 930 is good for those who like to fiddle around with settings before shooting. If you want to quickly get the device and capture the right moment, then you will not succeed. It focuses for a very long time, while in low light conditions the pictures are blurry. What can we say about objects in motion... However, in terms of the clarity of the pictures taken, with the right settings, the 930 camera will give odds to any other mobile camera. By default, the camera takes two pictures at a resolution of 5 megapixels and 16 megapixels. A 5MP snapshot is displayed in your gallery, it can be shared or sent to social networks. A 16 megapixel photo can be retrieved from the device's memory only when connected to a PC. Strange decision, isn't it? At the same time, the pictures are actually not the same even in their quality.

A large number of branded software for photography is available in the application store, but to some extent it duplicates the functionality of the main application. I repeat that with the right selection of settings, the pictures are wonderful, but the automatic mode does not work very well. The front camera takes incredibly poor quality pictures, "pixels" and squares are back in the photos. The video is recorded in high resolution (more than FullHD after the previous update) of decent quality with very good surround sound.

The 2.2GHz quad-core processor along with 2GB of RAM ensures stable and fast system performance. The animation is drawn quickly, all elements are displayed without hanging. Built-in memory 32 GB (available to the user a little more than 20 GB), there is no slot for a memory card. Windows Mobile works fast.

As an everyday "dialer" smartphone perfectly copes with its tasks. There are no complaints about this, but I won’t repeat myself about the inconvenient phone book of the operating system. NanoSIM is used. At the same time, the slot easily leaves the hole, it only needs to be slightly pry with a fingernail or something sharp. After the second change of the SIM card, the inconspicuous latches of the SIM card itself flew off, but this did not affect the operation of the slot in any way. The main speaker is not loud enough, slightly below average in volume. There is a danger of not hearing it in a noisy place. But it is quite high quality and works out both low and high frequencies in detail - it's nice to listen to music.

The autonomy of the device will not please you. Just a day of active work of the gadget. Turn off data transfer and automatic brightness control, and one battery charge will last for two days. Somehow quite modest for devices on OS from Microsoft. The most interesting thing is that it takes more than two hours to charge! During the charging process, it actively heats up! Yes, the device generally periodically heats up in the area opposite to the location of the buttons under noticeable loads, for example, during games.

What's with the operating system? I could not resist and became a member of the Insider Preview program, and, of course, upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile. If you constantly use a Windows smartphone as the main device, then I would not advise you to update it ahead of time. At the moment, the system is still raw, a lot of problems and shortcomings in its work are observed with the stability of the interface. By November, everything will be fixed and it will be more pleasant to work with the full version.

Double-clicking the Home button activates the screen for comfortable one-handed operation:

Tiles have become calmer, no longer displaying actively updated information, as if frozen. "Jumping" and chopped off words in the settings have disappeared. Settings are now systematized. Added a noticeable number of buttons quick access in the notification bar. Notifications themselves can now be fully viewed in the same notification panel. By the way, the work of notifications has not yet been changed - when you open a newer message, old and read messages in the application continue to hang in notifications. Pictures on the background of the desktop look spectacular.

New Microsoft browser Edge pleases with its work - it is simple, convenient and fast (something like Chrome at the beginning of its journey). There are more and more branded software, and it is not always necessary, but, fortunately, many applications are easy to remove. In general, there are not so many noticeable changes, but all of them are good and further, though not revolutionary, successful development of the platform.

Lumia 930 is not at all convincing in its flagship role - a weak, uncharismatic and dull leader of the army of gadgets on Windows Mobile, which broke into the top segment by some chance. I would like to take away a few points for the assembly, camera, autonomy, ringer volume, price, lack of a memory card, etc...

The Lumia 930 model can be safely called the flagship among devices that operate on the Windows operating system. The device is a logical continuation of the line from the Finnish company Nokia. Its predecessors were such modifications as the Lumia 925 and If the novelty inherited a compact metal body from the first of them, then from the second it inherited excellent technical characteristics with an impressive twenty-megapixel camera. More detailed overview Nokia Lumia 930 is presented below.

general description

At first glance, it may seem that the phone has a quite ordinary rectangular body with rounded corners and standard arrangement keys. On the other hand, it also has its own peculiarities. First of all, this concerns the display, which here is slightly convex, because the plane descends along the edges. In addition, it is impossible not to note the wide metal frame that runs along the entire body of the novelty. For the production of the model, metal, glass and plastic are used. It should be noted that a fairly extensive range of colors is available for the device. Along with this, color options do not look very expensive and strict. Based on this, most users call the ideal performance of a smartphone in a black case - Nokia Lumia 930 Black.

Appearance

The front of the device is covered with third-generation Corning Gorilla protective glass, under which there is a five-inch screen, a microphone, touch keys, light and proximity sensors, a speaker, additional camera, as well as the corporate logo of the manufacturer. On the back side, you can see the peephole of the main camera, LED dual flash and the main speaker. The right side is used to house all the physical buttons of the smartphone, which are used to turn on / off, control the camera and volume. The left end has no functional purpose. The developers installed the connectors for installing a SIM card and connecting headphones on top, and the microUSB slot on the bottom. In general, this device can be called quite convenient. The only thing that can cause a slight criticism in this regard is the weight and dimensions of the Nokia 930. The reviews of numerous experts and owners of the model indicate that the weight of 167 grams and dimensions of 137 x 71 x 9.8 mm is a bit too much for a device with a five-inch display.

Soft

The smartphone operates on the operating system Windows Phone 8.1. The user can independently divide all available applications into two large groups. The first of these includes navigation programs, including maps, car navigator, as well as laying routes by public transport and on foot. At the same time, it should be noted that it is possible to use offline maps of different regions free of charge. As for the second group of applications, they are used to take pictures and create videos, and also allow you to edit them. Except standard programs from the manufacturer and Microsoft, the standard set of Nokia 930 includes some domestic developments. In this case, we are talking about a search engine. Yandex system, an app to buy and read e-books, as well as the client social network VK.

Screen

The novelty uses a touch screen with a diagonal of five inches. Its main advantages are wide viewing angles, high contrast and brightness. In addition, it should be noted that the use modern technologies, designed to improve the readability of the image in bright conditions. The Nokia 930 sensor can recognize up to ten touches simultaneously. Moreover, the device quickly responds to all commands, even when working with thin gloves. As for the image density, it is 441 dpi.

cameras

The 20-megapixel main camera with six photosensitive matrix and dual LED flash is considered one of the main advantages of the Nokia 930. A review of the smartphone market shows that only a few models can boast of such characteristics. You can start the camera directly with a special button on the right side even when the device is in the locked state. As for the quality of the received images, the user can independently choose standard or high resolution. The auxiliary camera, which is located on the front side, is equipped with a 1.2 megapixel matrix. It allows you to receive which is 1280 x 960 megapixels, as well as make video calls.

Main technical data

The novelty is based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core SoC processor. The maximum frequency of its operation is 2.2 GHz. 2 GB of RAM is enough for high Nokia performance 930. Feedback from many users of the device indicates that it works without any slowdowns and sudden reboots. Heavy applications, including games, run instantly. The amount of fixed memory is 32 GB. At the same time, the developers did not provide for the possibility of installing an additional card. This is perhaps the main drawback of the novelty. This is especially felt against the background of high-quality, capacitive photographs that are created by the camera.

Conclusion

The main advantages of the Nokia 930, experts call an excellent camera, high performance, as well as good build quality and materials used in it. However, even all this does not allow the model to become mass. This is due not so much to the inconvenient Windows Phone operating system, but to the high cost of the device, which in the domestic market is about 25 thousand rubles.

Accurately before the final sale to Microsoft, the Finnish Nokia introduced flagship smartphone Lumia 930 on Windows Phone 8.1 operating system. De facto, it became the latest development of Nokia and, I must say, it turned out to be the best in the line of the company in 2014. Excellent screen, fast interface, high-quality camera, long battery life from charge to charge - all this is packed into an extremely attractive metal case. For three weeks I studied this smart up and down.

Perhaps, the main trump card of Nokia devices is design. Even ardent opponents of Windows Phone have always noted the elegance and quality materials of the Lumia line. The 930 was no exception to this rule. The model received a bright industrial design, which distinguishes it from others on the shelves of stores with a kind of novelty. In addition, the 2014 flagship received the latest version of the operating system - Windows Phone 8.1, where they tried to bring to mind most of the interfaces and functions.

In terms of hardware, Lumia is not the most advanced gadget, but the specifications are impressive. There is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.2 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory, support for LTE, NFC, GLONASS / GPS, an excellent camera with ZEISS pure view optics, a large 5-inch screen with Full HD resolution and a capacious battery. Well, now about everything in order.

Dimensions. Contents of delivery

id="sub0">

The dimensions of the novelty are typical for modern flagship models. For me, I find the size a bit large, but the build quality and looks make up for that. Judge for yourself, the dimensions of the new Lumia are 137x71x9.8 mm, weight 167 grams. The smartphone is convenient to carry in the pockets of clothing and easy to hold in your hands. The weight of the device is evenly distributed over the area. Thanks to this, the device does not tend to slip out of the hands.

Included in the package are:

  • Smartphone Nokia Lumia 930
  • Adapter charger with USB connector
  • Interface cable miniUSB connector CA-185CD
  • Instruction

The headset is not included. It will need to be purchased separately.

Design, construction

id="sub1">

Perhaps the appearance of Lumia 930 is the main trump card in front of competitors. Users like the design of the device. It is sleek, stylish and modern. The Finns have moved away from the familiar concept of using a one-piece plastic body or replaceable plastic panels used in models of past generations. Users wanted metal, and the developer went forward. True, not quite in the form that everyone expected, but still.

Only the frame on the sides of the smartphone is made of metal in the Lumia 930. The back cover is plastic. Here it is worth mentioning that it is non-removable, although at first you might think that it can be removed. A definite plus lies in the coverage back cover. It has a matte finish so no traces of wear are visible.

Due to its small thickness and at the same time quite noticeable weight, the gadget gives the owner a sense of reliability and high quality. Fortunately, the assembly of the novelty is excellent. Nothing creaks anywhere, there are no gaps between the body parts. The side edges are rounded, so that the smartphone fits comfortably in the hand.

There are three body colors available: black, white and orange. In all variants, the front part is black.

The protective glass of the screen is rounded to the edges, that is, there are no frames here. Someone considers this a minus (I want a protruding frame so that you can put the phone face down on the table and it does not touch the surface), while someone, on the contrary, is a plus.

Regarding accommodation individual elements smartphone, then on the front you can see the speaker for voice calls. Nearby is the proximity sensor, the light sensor. On the right there is a front camera, with which you can make video calls or take pictures of yourself. The resolution of the camera is 1280x960 pixels, which corresponds to 1.3 megapixels. Tests of the front camera in Skype show that the picture is of very adequate quality.

Most of the front face of the smartphone is occupied by a 5-inch touch screen. Thanks to a special coating, it does not get as dirty as other devices, no matter what you do with it.

The display itself, the area with the camera module above it and the area with the touch key block below are covered with non-scratch tempered glass. The glass is literally half a millimeter raised relative to the surface of the case.

Below the screen are three touch buttons controls: Back, Windows (Home) and Search. Here you can see the opening of the microphone.

The volume rocker is located on the right side face. A little lower there is an on / off button and a screen lock, and even lower is a camera key. The connector for connecting the interface cable and the microUSB charger is located on the bottom end. A compartment for a nano-SIM SIM card and a hole for connecting a 3.5 mm headset are located on the top of the case.

On the back side there is a built-in 20 megapixel camera lens with autofocus and a dual LED flash. There is also a speaker for playing external sounds and ringtones. It has decent performance in terms of volume reserve. In most cases, it is well audible. By the way, standard ringtones are played very quietly (the problem is not in the dynamics, but in ringtones) and you can easily miss a call. In this case, I recommend using something alternative with a normal sound.

The build quality of the test device is excellent. The general perception is also good. The Lumia 930 is assembled at the company's factory in China.

Graphic features

id="sub2">

The Lumia 930 uses a 5-inch touch screen with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels (about 441 ppi). The display displays 16.7 million colors, made using OLED technology. In addition, it has added a polarizing layer for better behavior in the sun (ClearBlack). The aspect ratio is 16:9. The screen has good color reproduction, brightness, contrast and viewing angles.

The device has a proximity sensor, as well as a light sensor. Unfortunately, the brightness can only be adjusted in three positions (low, medium and high). Unlike all other smartphones and systems, there is a limitation of Windows Phone.

Thanks to the G-sensor (accelerometer), the screen can automatically change its orientation. This does not happen in all applications. In the sun, the display fades, but all the information is well read.

Of the chips, it is worth noting the technology that has become the standard for Lumia devices, Super Sensitive Screen. It is used to control the device not only with finger touches, but also with nails, styluses, etc. The degree of sensitivity can be selected in the menu, if you do not want the screen to respond to any touch, this can be turned off. In a pocket, the screen cannot respond to touches, the proximity sensor is responsible for this, you should not worry about this.

Thanks to Super Sensitive Screen technology, the smartphone can be operated even with gloves on. This is very important for our winter! True, it takes a little practice and getting used to use. Navigating the menu, launching applications, making calls - all this worked for me without problems.

Keyboard and input

id="sub3">

As noted earlier, the Nokia 930 has three touch buttons for Back, Windows and Search. The rest is controlled by touch screen. In this case, you will not find keys for receiving and rejecting a call. You can only accept or reject a call using the touch screen. It is implemented quite simply and intuitively.

Typing is carried out using the on-screen QWERTY keyboard. It is quite comfortable even portrait orientation display - and all this is the merit of the large screen.

In general, you can enter text in several ways: using a QWERTY keyboard in a horizontal or vertical layout. To dial a special character, just press the "&123" button. To switch the layout from English to Russian, there is a dedicated "ENU" or "RU" key to the right of the space.

Interface and navigation. Functionality

id="sub4">

The Nokia Lumia 930 runs the latest available version of Microsoft's Windows Phone 8.1 operating system. In the future, it can be updated via the Internet to newer ones.

On the lock screen, you can place weather information, large clocks, notifications, as well as “live applications”, for example, Facebook - photos, statuses are shown, depending on how you set up these very live applications.

As for the user interface of the smartphone, then everything is standard. The desktop is presented as a scrollable vertical column of tiles of various shapes, displaying icons of programs, functions and widgets. A tile can be either a shortcut to a specific application, or a link to a person from a contact list, to a photo, to a web page, or to a service. Tiles can be resized. Up to six icons can fit on one line.

You can install a separate page as a tile on your desktop. If you like, say, reading news from Yandex or Kommersant, then you can go directly to the last page you read by clicking on its shortcut on the desktop without launching your browser and without digging up a journal entry. Alas, the user does not have the ability to change and decorate the desktop with various pictures. The background here is purely black or white.

If you try to swipe the screen to the right with your finger or click on the arrow at the bottom of the display, a list will open installed programs. They are not divided into directories, but are displayed in a long alphabetical list. To add to main screen new tiles, just hold your finger on the corresponding icon for 3-4 seconds - it will appear context menu with a choice of actions.

The general style of switching between applications is reminiscent of turning pages, and all this happens almost instantly. The speed of the interfaces is high, and the effects are quite appropriate. Visually, it looks very impressive and advantageous. There are no such special effects in iOS or Andriod.

By holding the "Back" button, you can access the list of running ones. If they support the multitasking function, then when you click on the thumbnail, the program will start in the same form in which you exited it. Thus, you can work with almost all applications.

You can unlock your smartphone not only with a hardware button. By enabling the appropriate function, Lumia 930 is easy to "wake up" by pressing the screen twice. Another option allows you to mute an incoming call by turning the device face down.

Internet and Microsoft services

id="sub5">

Browser included as standard Internet Explorer 11 with support for HTML5, Canvas and hardware acceleration, as in the desktop version of the Internet browser. The browser works quickly and without glitches. Of the features: the address bar is located at the bottom of the screen and it is much more convenient to get to it if you work with the device with one hand. The IE11 browser loads pages very quickly, supports modern work algorithms, which is supposed to be done by a progressive browser.

Microsoft online services (music, games, office, mail, etc.) are accessed using Live ID. At the same time, with a Russian account, as it turned out, you can’t use everything that is in the Marketplace store. Only applications for Russia and the CIS are available.

Windows Phone 8.1 offers a range of cloud features. The OS has a new office suite Office 365. There is basic support for the main programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) out of the box, you can create and edit documents right on your phone, without the need to install a paid package.

Multimedia features

id="sub6">

In terms of multimedia, this device has a good music player, it supports the following formats - MP4, AAC, MP3, M4A, WMA, 3G2, AMR, 3GP, ASF. There is a built-in FM radio receiver.

Of the unique programs, it is worth noting the Nokia Music service. He knows how to play the music already available on the phone, as well as show announcements of upcoming concerts of various artists and bands.

You can also access the music store and free music streaming service on the Mix Radio Network using your Nokia Store account. Mix Radio has ready-made playlists for a dozen genres. The feature of the service is that these playlists can be downloaded for local listening for one month, of course, for free. Download a mix or several and listen to them without connecting to the network on the road. "Mixes" can be updated regularly, there are no restrictions. Instead of mixes, you can also listen to compositions similar to your playlist: in the "Create" item, you need to drive in, for example, "Linking Park", and the program will offer a set of similar artists, compositions.

Lumia 930 supports unconverted video.

Photographic opportunities

id="sub7">

The Lumia 930 is equipped with a built-in 20 megapixel camera, dual LED flash, optical image stabilization, f/2.4 aperture, 26mm focal length. The photomodule of the device is almost the same as that of.

Lumia camera 930 in the manufacturer's line is the most advanced. It is certainly not perfect, like any other smartphone, but the pictures taken with it look very good. Photos are as bright and detailed as it happens with real cameras. True, the smartphone module has its own flaws - this is an incorrectly set white balance. Often the pictures take on an unnatural hue. True, this applies to shooting with very intense light.

The camera interface is ascetic, simple and intuitive, there is a standard list of settings. You can select the shooting mode, white balance, ISO value, aspect ratio (16:9, 4:3 or 1:1), and set the exposure value. There is additional programs for shooting panoramas, animated photos and portraits (continuous shooting and then choosing the best shot). You can save pictures in JPEG format(5 or 16 megapixels), as well as in RAW format (DNG 16 megapixels and JPEG 5 megapixels).

It is worth noting that the smartphone camera allows you to get decent pictures even in the dark. The fact is that the device sets a long shutter speed, and optical stabilization tries to eliminate camera shake at the time of shooting. In addition, optics and light sensitivity play a significant role.

All proprietary Nokia utilities for working with images have been added to the phone. The base here is the Nokia Camera utility, which has a familiar interface, like in other Lumia models. There is a function “animated photos”, when several pictures are taken and an animated picture is assembled from them, panorama mode, focus change (foreground and background), collage (a kind of photo diary creation option), built-in Creative Studio editor.

Sample photos from Nokia Lumia 930 camera

The device can record video with resolutions of 1920:1080, 1280x720, 800x480, 640x480, 320x240 at 30 frames per second. Videos are of good quality, moving objects are not smeared, thanks to automatic stabilization. Lumia 930 supports formats and codecs: H.263, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4, VC-1, Windows Video. Playable video formats: 3G2, 3GP, MP4, WMV, AVI, M4V, MOV.

Navigation and maps

id="sub8">

The Nokia 930 includes the Nokia Here mapping package (HERE Drive+, HERE Maps, HERE Transit), which includes the standard map view as well as in-car navigation. It is worth noting that detailed maps of a larger number of Russian cities with a population of more than 5 thousand people are available here, there is no need to talk about Europe - they are there in full, similarly for other countries.

When the program is launched for some time, information is loaded from the base stations of the operator and GPS satellites about the location, current time, and maps are loaded. After receiving the coordinates, you can determine where you are at the moment. In the program menu there is a search for objects by text information, address, geographic location, history, contacts stored in the phone. All objects on the map are displayed with the corresponding icon. It is possible to display street names and other information in Latin. There is support for searching in Cyrillic.

The user can choose a map display option - 2D or 3D image, day or night mode. In addition, a “satellite view” display option has been added, it is similar to what we see in the maps of the Here.Net service.

Nokia maps contain information about the movement of public transport - a metro map is superimposed on the maps, as well as lines for trolleybuses, trams, etc.

When navigating, large bold arrows display a pre-designated route. Of the pleasant features, you can find information about the weather, the situation on nearby roads, etc.

In general, navigation Nokia cards similar to other similar services, here you can use maps offline. To do this, do not forget to download the maps to the phone's memory.

Speed and memory

id="sub9">

Nokia Lumia 930 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 platform with 2.2 GHz quad-core processor, Adreno 320 accelerator. 2 GB RAM.

Only 32 GB allocated for data storage internal memory. Initially, 25 GB of them are available. The rest is occupied by system files. When you expand the amount of memory can not. The smartphone does not support memory cards. The only option is to use cloud storage. By the way, Lumia 930 users are given 7 GB of free space in the Microsoft OneDrive service.

As for the smoothness of the interfaces, the speed of the applications, there are no problems. Memory and hardware stuffing is enough for any applications and games that exist today for Windows Phone. According to this parameter, the device can be called the best device families.

Communication options

id="sub10">

Lumiya has a full range of communication interfaces. Firstly, there is Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n / ac with the ability to distribute the Internet to other devices with Wi-Fi. Secondly, there is NFC for sending and receiving files, as well as working with payment services. Thirdly, USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 4.0 with a full set of standard profiles.

The smartphone works in GSM (850/900/1800/1900) and UMTS (850/900/1900/2100) mobile networks. As for support for LTE networks, it is present, including at frequencies of 800 MHz and 2600 MHz (at 4G frequencies in Russia).

In addition, there is a built-in GLONASS / GPS / A-GPS and a navigation service with online (offline) Nokia maps.

Working time

id="sub11">

The Nokia Lumia 930 is powered by a 2420mAh BV-5QW battery. Due to the use of a less energy-intensive display, the smartphone does not consume energy so briskly. And Windows Phone itself is not too voracious in terms of power consumption. These are undoubted advantages over iOS and Android devices. Maximum music playback time - up to 75 hours, video - up to 9 hours, online via 3G - up to 9 hours, via Wi-Fi - up to 9 hours.

Under extreme conditions of use, with the number of calls 40-50 minutes a day, sending a dozen SMS, listening to an mp3 player through a headset for about 2 hours and surfing the Internet for two hours via LTE and Wi-Fi, the device worked for 1.5 days. This is a very good indicator for a smartphone of this level. With an average load, the smartphone will work for two days or even more. Charging accumulator battery from electrical network about 2.5 hours, via USB cable - about four hours.

The device has built-in Qi wireless charging (wireless charging), with its help, the phone charges much longer than by wire.

Results

id="sub12">

Nokia Lumia 930 best smartphone on the Windows Phone platform. Nothing cooler on this OS has ever come out. Another thing is that most users look at the operating system from Microsoft with caution. Of the obvious and indisputable advantages of the model, I will note a long time battery life, very high quality camera, excellent screen and eye-catching appearance. Of the obvious disadvantages - the lack of the possibility of expanding the built-in memory, the lack of a headset.

I'll leave the question of whether I like or dislike Windows Phone. Let me just say that the Lumia 930 has exactly the same features as its competitors, with the exception of intelligent services and emotional chips.

Basic target audience Lumia 930 will be those who have already used Windows Phone and found this OS the simplest in terms of interfaces.
