SiSoftware Sandra is a system analyzer for 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows, which includes test and information modules. Sandra strives to go beyond other similar utilities and show the real picture by combining both high- and low-level performance comparison capabilities into one program.

You can:

    get information about the processor, chipset, video card, ports, printers, sound card, memory, network, AGP, ODBC connections, USB 2.0, Firewire, etc.;

    save/print/send by fax and email/upload to a server or insert into an ADO/ODBC database reports in text, HTML, XML, SMS/DMI or RPT formats;

    supports multiple sources for collecting information, including: remote computers, PDAs, smartphones, ADO/ODBC databases or saved reports;

    all tests are optimized for both SMP and SMT (hyper-threading), supporting up to 32/64 processors depending on the platform;

Working with the Sandra package does not cause any difficulties. Launch the program and a window will open in front of you that resembles the Windows Control Panel, only with many more shortcuts. Each of them corresponds to a specific utility, “responsible” for collecting information about a separate device included in your system, providing data about the manufacturer, version, date of manufacture, performance, etc. In the top panel there is a choice of how information is displayed in the window, as well as filtering modules depending on their functionality into groups: Information modules ( Information modules), performance analysis modules ( Benchmarking modules), system file viewer modules ( Listing modules), testing modules ( Testing modules).

Fig 2 – SiSoftware Sandra interface

The former provide detailed reports about a specific or device component of the computer. These include, first of all, the module " System Summary"-"General system information", which displays brief information about the main components of the computer: processor, BIOS, chipset, memory, cache, monitor, video adapter, device drivers, peripherals (ports, keyboard, mouse), multimedia devices, communication devices, installed printers, network adapters and data about operating system. Other information modules examine each system component individually in more detail. If you press the " Next" at the bottom of the module window, the program will open the next module in it.

This way you can sequentially analyze the system using all the methods from the SiSoft Sandra package. At the end of each report there is a list of tips for a given device to increase the performance of the subsystem and the entire computer as a whole. Performance analysis modules ( Benchmarking modules) after a few seconds of testing, they will provide complete information about the comparative performance of individual computer components: processor, multimedia subsystem, hard drives and CD-ROM. But they allow you to compare them with the reference ones. System file viewer modules ( Listing modules) open the main system configuration files for study: config.sys, autoexec.bat, msdos.sys, system.ini, win.ini, control.ini, protocol.ini, as well as the Scandisk disk check utility report file - scandisk.log. For a better understanding of what is happening on the computer, this package contains testing modules ( Testing modules): CMOS Dump, Hardware IRQ Settings, Protected Mode Int Handlers, Real Mode Int Handlers, DMA Settings, I/O Settings, Memory Resources, Plyg & Play and Enumerator. They will allow you to review device resources, their identifiers (often helps in selecting and modifying drivers) and other parameters that are usually not available through the Windows section" system".

The package includes several "Helpers" - Wizards. "Burn-In Wizard"is a very effective computer test. It will run all the main performance tests included in the Sandra package sequentially for some long time. If problems exist, they will appear while the tests are running. For amateurs " acceleration" exists " Performance Tune-Up Wizard". He can prepare a list of tips on how to improve the performance of your system. A complete analysis of the computer configuration is carried out using " Create a Report Wizard". In several stages, it will build a complete report on the computer configuration. In addition to modules, from top menu programs can be

Programs for obtaining a full report on the installed hardware and the used software will always be in value. And if they can also do additional testing to compare the results obtained with other systems, then that’s generally great. Although, of course, such applications are used by a rather narrow circle of people who are seriously interested in computers and advanced hobbyists are forced to deal with unfamiliar system units. A large number of programs of this kind are offered for free use, but in practice it turns out that they become stupefied if exotic hardware is used, giving a colorfully laconic answer “unknown equipment.” One of the few programs that can really display all the information about the system and offers a bunch of tests SiSoftware Sandra.

The name SiSoftware Sandra hides several versions of the program, but all of them are paid with the exception of the SiSoftware Sandra Lite version, which is free for non-commercial and home use.

The entire program is divided into separate modules, each of which is responsible for its own functions. To make it easier for the user to understand the variety of functions offered, all modules are grouped into logical blocks, separated into separate tabs. Bookmarks available for use:

- Home. start page, where there are collected links to other bookmarks, and manufacturer pages with an offer to switch to paid versions. Made to make it easier to start working with the program, not immediately throwing out a bunch of incomprehensible modules, but giving you the opportunity to choose the section from which to start working.

- Tools. From here you can update and add new program modules. And carry out comprehensive testing and analysis of the computer as a system as a whole. Based on the results obtained, recommendations are made to eliminate bottlenecks. All content is completely duplicated if you use “Tools” from the main menu.

— Benchmark tests. Everything here is dedicated to testing both individual process components, graphics chips, disks, and performance virtual machines(Java). The results obtained can be compared with the reference results provided by the program manufacturers, based on tests of a large number of different equipment.

- Devices. Here you can get complete information about all the hardware that is used and connected to your computer, right down to various settings to it made in the operating system. You can receive it as general information, as well as an extended description for each device.

- Programs. It’s a rather loud word, but all the information about the operating system will be obtained, right down to the memory used, the environment variable, full description and the status of services and drivers, file types.

- Support. Quite a tricky thing, as you know, information about all equipment, buses and drivers for them is stored in the registry, here all this can be viewed and, if necessary, saved. To be honest, this particular section is a dark forest for me, I understand that a description and parameters of the hardware are given, but what is why and what is not clear. Should be useful to knowledgeable people.

— Favorites. Here you can enter the most used modules for quick access. I understood how to remove unnecessary modules (from context menu), but it’s not clear how to add it. Maybe over time the most frequently used ones will be added automatically.

All results are illustrated with graphs, the appearance of which can be flexibly customized. SiSoftware Sandra allows you to participate in an open rating, where any user of the program can register, post their results, and receive data from other participants.

A special feature of SiSoftware Sandra is the use of client-server technology. In fact, you can remotely connect and test, receive information from any computer on which Sandra is installed.

In the free version, some functions are reduced, so the corresponding modules cannot be activated. Opportunities for receiving detailed information for some devices, and information about software components is more popular in the corporate environment.

There is no main menu as such, there are simply icons from which functions for setting up work, help and appearance programs. During operation, you can make your own individual settings for each module.

SiSoftware Sandra Lite is an excellent utility for obtaining information about the system, with a very strong focus on testing computer components. For a regular user, not particularly needed, for daily use. But for those who like to take part in performance competitions, it’s quite suitable. And of course, for professionals who need complete information about an unknown system, it will become a desktop tool (it was proven on one motherboard, there was an incomprehensible LAN card, was not automatically detected, other utilities confirmed an “unidentified network device,” but this one immediately put everything in its place).

Among the shortcomings, one can note that it is too overloaded with all sorts of modules, and some even partially duplicate each other, it is not intuitive and crumpled, if you look at it from the point of view of the average computer user. At times you get stunned, and not only during testing (everything is clear there), you have to wait quite a long time until everything starts working.

Works great on 32 and 64 bit operating systems. Among several localization languages, Russian is also available. The installation process also takes place in Russian.

SiSoftware Sandra Lite Homepage

Good afternoon friends. Readers often ask me to tell me about a program where there would be full information not only about the various components of the computer, but also about its system, various programs. About a program that could conduct not only various tests of your computer as a whole, but also in its individual nodes, and even so that the program would have Russian language.

There are many similar programs. There are few high-quality, free ones among them. And also Russian-speaking. Therefore, I bring to your attention the program, Sisoft Sandra. This program can perform all these functions, and many more. She has free version Sandra Lite.

Sandra Lite can be downloaded from the official website http://www.sisoftware.net/. Although, you can download Sisoft Sandra for free in Russian from another site, namely, look for a torrent site with the program. Although, this is no longer a licensed version.

Sisoft Sandra program description

First of all, install the program. Installation is simple. The main thing is that at the beginning of the installation you select the Russian language.

So, after installing the program, we see its large and multifunctional interface.

Tools

First of all, I advise you to go to the “tools” tab and select a program function such as "Stability Test". This is a very important function. If you have any problem with the system or a specific computer node, the function will determine it. It will tell you which element of the computer is acting up (this is very convenient, similar problem sometimes it is very difficult to determine).

When you enable this test, all your computer functions will immediately slow down. The screen will blink several times. The computer will become very slow. Its load will be 100%. The test may take several hours. You need to be prepared for this. But you need to pass the test.

So, let's select this stability test. First we have a window "Introduction". Click next (pink arrow below). Then the Configuration settings. I won’t create any script and will just click next.

Benchmarks I decided to choose everything.

IN "Report" number of times I set it to 1, priority “Normal” (if you set several numbers, the test may take longer). Also, the test is delayed due to the fact that I set the priority to “Normal” and not “Low”.

CPU– left everything as it is.

Maximum temperature- default. Next, I left everything as default.

File types zip compression (this is more convenient for me). Format.txt

Disk file, as in the screenshot.

The stability test begins. So, you'll have to wait a little.

Five hours later we have the result:

As you can see, I have some kind of error 8111. I will find out in more detail what exactly this error is and will try to take action. If you get any errors, learn more about what they mean (you can just Google them) and take action to correct them!

Benchmarks

Now, go to another tab, which is called, "Benchmarks". This tab has a lot of tests, it’s easy to get confused in them. Therefore, I advise you to go through them:

  • Productivity Index;
  • Physical disks;
  • File system speed;
  • Multi-core efficiency (if you have multiple cores);
  • GP memory;
  • Video memory;
  • Memory bandwidth;
  • Cache and memory.

In general, there are quite a lot of tests in this tab, and it’s up to you to decide which one to test. But an extra test won't hurt.

Devices

A very important tab. First of all, I advise you to check it "System information". Click on the shortcut and find out the information. Read all the information and data in this tab very carefully. Especially about the memory module (RAM). About hard drives, motherboard, BIOS, what system you have on your PC, etc.

Separately, look at the tab "Motherboard". Literally all the information. From the name of the motherboard, to the processor, processor power, their manufacturers. Pay attention to the temperature of the motherboard and processor. It should be small. For example, I have 30-0 15-0 C. If you have much more, then you should change the paste between the processor and the cooler. Otherwise, the processor will overheat and the computer may simply not turn on.

Also, pay attention to the tab processors, motherboard configuration and physical disks. In the disks, we look at their volume and rotation speed. Capacity, S.M.A.R.T. – there are special sites that provide decryption of smart. At least Vicki.

It is very important to look at the number of hours worked. There should be few of them. The more, the worse. The number of shutdowns makes it worse HDD. For example, I have 833 days - this is normal. From these data you can understand new hard disk, or CU.

Also, pay attention to the temperature. For example, I have only 37º C. For hard drive- it is perfectly. It is very bad if the temperature of your hard drive is above 54º C. This indicates that you need to go to a specialist or, better yet, buy a new one.

Programs

This tab also has many of its own internal tabs. For example, "Logical drives". Sandra produces some data almost instantly, but some takes time. Same with disks. Pay attention to the top green stripe. The program shows us through a graph how much space on the system disk is free and how much is not.

As you can see, logical drive I have one, and one green stripe, which takes up about half of the possible space. This is very good. For system drives, it is advisable that free space was approximately 20% of the occupied.

Also, I see that my system disk takes up 89 GB. This is what I know. In general, I advise you to allocate at least 50 GB to the system disk. There is no need to be greedy here, system drives get clogged quickly. You can also see that I have 65% free disk space. Like I said, this is great! I advise you to carefully study the remaining data.

I advise you to study the data about your operating system. Also, I was interested in such a process as "Memory Usage". It is advisable to have an idea of how your OS uses RAM.

"Services and Drivers" Very useful feature. Tells about your drivers. I advise you to study it. It is quite possible that some driver you have is not signed. Click on the alert to get the data. True, they are in English. But now it won’t be difficult to translate into Russian.

Also worth a look "Processes". What processes are currently running on your computer. If there are ones involved that you did not enable, it is quite possible that a virus has settled on your system.

I didn’t find anything suspicious in my processes, but I advise you to take a more careful look at this tab.

Video description of Sisoft Sandra

Conclusion: Sisoft Sandra is very useful program. Which will help you learn a lot of interesting things about your computer as a whole. From various nodes, to programs, processes, systems, and has the ability to conduct various tests on the integrity of the computer as a whole or some of its individual parts! From here, select the program tabs that interest you and study them carefully. This can greatly help your computer.
