VPN plugin for chrome. How to choose a VPN extension for the Google Chrome browser. Enable the VPN extension while browsing the web

Today I would like to touch on the topic of specialized browser extensions Google Chrome .

The blocking of certain Internet resources is now unlikely to surprise anyone. However, any problem always generates a corresponding solution. Surely you know that there are specialized resources and applications that can effectively bypass various online restrictions. In this article you will get acquainted with the best free VPN-extensions.

A fairly popular VPN service that successfully combines speed and excellent anonymity. The extension's arsenal includes 15 servers that hide your real location.

To start using TunnelBear, you need to download a special proprietary application to your PC and create your personal account in it. After completing registration, you will be provided with 750 MB of traffic for a month. Not a lot, but better than nothing.

An excellent VPN, which, however, is not without some paid services. Interestingly, the extension does not require you to go through a registration procedure. It is worth noting that free version The service has a limited set of servers. If you are unable to do without a high-speed connection, then a paid extension option will come to your aid.

Fully free VPN, which gives you complete freedom in terms of traffic consumption. There are 15 different servers available for connection. Note that the extension is based on the principle of peer-to-peer service. This means that all devices connected to the system are involved in the process of traffic exchange.

Another good VPN extension. The main disadvantage of Touch VPN is the small number of available servers (4 pieces). It is also worth noting that the speed of data exchange in the service directly depends on the number of users using your server at the moment.

To work with the service, you must go through a simple registration procedure. After completing authorization, you will become the proud owner of a completely free VPN with unlimited traffic. Tell me, what else does an average Internet user need to be happy? Key expansion options also include automatic activation secure connection when opening certain resources.

In the meantime, while the authorities and the RKN are building a fence for us that does not allow us to access blocked sites, the developers software solved all the problems for us. All that remains for ordinary users to do to open blocked sites is to turn on the VPN.

Now VPN is built in almost everywhere, every browser has an add-on. In addition, there are 100,500 applications for smartphones, and thousands of instructions for Windows.

Today I want to close this issue once and for all with this page of my blog. In this post, I will try to mention everything so that everyone can find their instructions and understand how to enable VPN on their device.

Enable VPN in Yandex Browser

If you are from Ukraine, the first problem you will encounter is loading the browser itself. All you need is to download the browser from the Yandex mirror. You can download the browser from this link - https://getyabrowser.com/ru/

Right after VPN installations you will already have it turned on. If suddenly blocked sites do not open for you, you need to do the following:

  • Open settings. In the upper right corner there are 3 dashes - ≡ and click settings.
  • Scroll to the "Turbo" section and select "Automatically turn on...".
  • Press 3 keys at the same time – Ctrl+Shift+Del and delete “files saved in the cache”.
  • Restart your browser and enjoy free surfing.

Second way:

If the above does not work for you for some reason, do not be upset. Yandex Browser supports all extensions from “Opera” and you can easily install a VPN plugin.

To do this, click on the 3 dashes ≡ in the upper right corner and click “Extensions”. Then scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Catalog of extensions for Yandex.Browser”. Next, write VPN in the search and install any of the suggested plugins. Restart your browser, you're done!

Enable VPN in Opera

In Opera it’s exactly the same as in Yandex Browser. To be more precise, you can enable VPN in two ways:

  1. Built-in from Opera
  2. Install extension

Let's now look at each method separately.

Method one - built-in VPN

  1. Tap Menu, then Settings.
  2. Select "Security" from the left menu. You need the VPN section (enable it by checking the box).
  1. Ready. Now, next to the address bar you have a corresponding button where you can turn the VPN on/off and change the country in case of outages.

The second way is to install the extension.

I can’t even imagine why the built-in VPN didn’t suit you, but I think, just in case, it’s worth writing an alternative option:

To install the extension, you can open the directory through the “menu” button and write VPN in the search. Or just paste/open this link in the address bar - https://addons.opera.com/ru/search/?query=vpn

After installing the extension, restart your browser and you can open any blocked site.

Enable VPN in Google Chrome

Google Chrome does not have a built-in VPN, but it has the largest collection of extensions, among which you can quickly find everything and for free.

To enable VPN in Chrome you need to:

  • Click on the ellipsis in the upper right corner. Next “Additional tools”, then “Extensions”. Or paste in the address bar - chrome://extensions/
  • In the search, write “VPN”.
  • Install the selected extension.

I have “Free VPN Proxy Server Hotspot Shield - Unblock Sites”. Works flawlessly and has never slowed down. If you also want to install it for yourself, you can immediately follow the link - chrome://extensions/?id=and download.

VPN in Mozilla Firefox

As you understand, it’s exactly the same as in other browsers, but to get the full picture I’ll describe it in detail. To open access to all sites, do the following:

  • Paste/follow the link - https://addons.mozilla.org/ru/firefox/
  • On the right side you have the “Search for add-ons”. Type “VPN” into the search and press “Enter”
  • Then the choice is yours, but I recommend installing “Hoxx VPN Proxy” or “Hotspot Shield free VPN Proxy”.
  • Install the add-on, activate, restart the browser.

Ready. Now you have access to all resources on the Internet. As you can see, nothing complicated.

Browsers with built-in VPN

If you have no desire to install anything additional, you can use browsers that already have Proxy support built into their product. I certainly recommend using the ones discussed above, but suddenly you need a different one.

List of browsers with built-in Proxy:

  1. Yandex.Browser (about it above).
  2. Opera. See above.
  3. TOR. Old, popular. Download here - https://www.torproject.org/download/download-easy

During downloading, do not forget to select Russian language.

  1. Browser Go! From mail.ru. Download here - https://gobro.mail.ru
  2. Orbitum - it’s unclear what, I’m not leaving a link.
  3. FreeU is a bit dumb. I don't recommend it.

VPN for Android

If you use one of the browsers listed above, then enable VPN in it in the same way as in a regular browser (see above). If you prefer to use another application, then you need to install another one that will give full access.

To install a VPN on Android, you need:

  1. Open « Google play” and write “VPN” in the search.
  2. Select one of the applications and install.
  3. Launch the application and minimize it. Now you can open your browser and view any sites.

Personally, I would recommend you the application “Turbo VPN – Unlimited Free VPN" It is fast, light, and works more or less stably. Available at the link - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=free.vpn.unblock.proxy.turbovpn

That's all. Nothing complicated!

Among all existing methods to protect your personal data, the most reliable and convenient for the end user seems to be the use of various types of VPN services and extensions. This position of these tools on the market is explained by ease of operation, the inability to track the real location of the user, as well as many other advantages of this technology.

Description of the mechanism for accessing the network via VPN

When figuring out how to enable VPN in Chrome, it is worth first deciding on the mechanism of operation of these kinds of tools. It is extremely simple and reliable, which explains the popularity of such anonymization tools among users. User access to the Internet is carried out through a closed network located abroad, which allows, on the one hand, to change the IP address to prevent identification, and on the other, to completely ignore the blocking of various sites.

IMPORTANT! The confidentiality of user data directly depends on the integrity of the used VPN service A. In this regard, you should take the most responsible approach to the selection of this important tool. Or you can pay to rent a server and run your own personal VPN on it, so as not to worry about the safety of the transmitted data!

Today, among the popular VPN extensions for Chrome-based browsers, the following deserve attention:

  • TunnelBear;
  • Hotspot Shield;
  • ZenMate;
  • Browsec.

At the same time, there are a number of applications whose use, for various reasons, is not recommended. First of all, it is HolaVPN and the like that trade in user data, thereby violating the interests of consumers. However, there are relatively few such cases of sale that have received publicity, and therefore it is worth treating the services provided with some doubt and not completely trusting such a connection.

The most reliable VPN plugins for Google Chrome

When considering free plugins for working with VPN, one cannot fail to note the popular Browsec extension, which boasts ease of setup and encryption of the connection to the server.

ADVICE! Peculiarity this application lies in the complete absence of traffic limits, which allows you to avoid connection unavailability at the most crucial moment.

ZenMate, which is also free, boasts similar functionality, however, it has a number of disadvantages. Mainly, these are ubiquitous advertisements that are constantly displayed in the extension and become very annoying when using the application for a long time. But there are no serious restrictions on the volume of transmitted traffic.

Things are different with the TunnelBear plugin, which boasts a nice design and the ability to select the server from which the Internet will be accessed in the future. In addition, it is worth noting the incredibly fast connection speed for this type of tool. Unfortunately, such advantages are offset by very strict restrictions on the amount of data received using the service.

Process to enable VPN in Chrome browser

In order to start fully using any of the tools listed above, you will need to use the standard application store to download and install them. First of all, the user will need to click the Add to Chrome button on the extension page, and then wait for the installation to complete.

Further, the process of using and activating programs may vary. Some involve just clicking on the appropriate icon, which will allow you to immediately start using VPN, while others require some time spent selecting the server location and adjusting other settings for the future connection.

VPN is The best way bypass blocking of sites blocked by the provider. You can also hide information about yourself, change your IP address and transfer data in encrypted form. But for ordinary users, VPN, first of all, is an opportunity to visit sites that have been blocked and inaccessible in a particular country.

I have encountered this from my own experience. I tested different VPN extensions (add-ons) for the four most popular browsers: Opera, Google Chrome, Yandex Browser and Firefox. I decided to share this with you useful information. Below we look at the best (in my opinion), free (though not all) VPN add-ons for browsers. I’ll also show you how to find and install them in each browser. After installing and activating these extensions, you will be able to visit blocked sites, social media (VKontakte, Odnoklassniki) and other resources.

A free VPN may not be of high quality. It works slowly and is not stable. Unfortunately it is so. Especially in our time, when these free services a big load has fallen. A free VPN is not suitable for regular use. I think you are already convinced of this.

It’s better, of course, to buy some kind of paid VPN.

A few words about what a VPN (Virtual Private Network) is and how it works. This is virtual private network. If this doesn’t mean anything to you, then I’ll try to explain it in in simple language. There are many VPN services, both free and paid. Using some kind of VPN service (configured via browser extension, PC program, Android, iOS), all our traffic goes through the server of this service. There can be a lot of such servers, in each country and several of them (it all depends on the specific VPN service).

We receive the IP address of the server through which we connect. This allows us to access blocked sites, since we change our location on the network, connecting through a server installed in another country (where certain sites are not blocked). All data we transmit or receive is encrypted. Which gives us additional protection, especially when connecting via open Wi-Fi networks.

Sometimes security can be deceiving when using a VPN. Since all our traffic goes through the servers of some company, there is always a risk that this company will use the information that passes through its servers. Therefore, I advise you to use only time-tested and most popular VPN browser extensions. I will talk about these in this article.

It's simple: if in your country the provider has blocked access to some sites (for example, as VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, Yandex and Mail.ru are now blocked in Ukraine), then we simply install a VPN add-on in our browser, turn it on and we can go to sites to which we have been restricted from accessing.

Free VPN for Opera browser

First of all, I will talk about the solution for the Opera browser. For the reason that I myself use this browser, and in this regard it is the best. Why? But because Opera does not need to install any third-party extensions to visit blocked sites. Opera has its own built-in free VPN that works just perfectly!

All we need is to install the latest version of the browser. Then go to “Menu” – “Settings”, to the “Security” tab, and check the box next to “Enable VPN”.

All you have to do is turn on the VPN, and you can access sites that your Internet provider has blocked.

You can change your virtual location. But I advise you to leave "Optimal location".

The developers of the Opera browser are certainly great. Not only is the service free, but also unlimited traffic and speed. And it is very convenient to use. And most importantly, you can trust a company like Opera. In any case, this is better than some VPN services that were created a couple of days ago.

If you use the Opera browser, then I think the issue of bypassing site blocking has been resolved for you.

Advice! If it is not very important for you which browser to use, then you can install Opera and visit the necessary sites through its VPN. So as not to search for and install third-party extensions in other browsers.

For Google browser Chrome has a lot of different VPN extensions. They can be found and installed from the official store. Let me first show you how extensions are installed in the Chrome browser, and then I’ll show you a few specific extensions that I personally tested in use.

Open the menu, go to More Tools and select Extensions. Then, at the bottom, click on “More extensions”.

Will open new inset with a store various add-ons For Chrome browser. You can simply specify VPN in the search, and we will get a list of necessary extensions.

Just click on the "Install" button, and the extension will be installed in the browser. Then, its icon will appear next to the "Menu" button.

Some VPN extensions for Chrome:

I tried many different ones. Each has its downsides. In any case, download speed may decrease.

Installing a VPN in Yandex Browser

To get started, update your browser to latest version. You can install add-ons in Yandex Browser, including VPN services.

To install an add-on, open the menu, then select Add-ons. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the "Catalog of extensions for Yandex.Browser" button.

Enter "vpn" in the search. A list of the additions we need will appear.

To install what you need, select it and click on the “Add to Yandex.Browser” button. I recommend trying: Hola Better Internet, ZenMate VPN, TunnelBear, DotVPN - better than VPN. After installation, the extension icon will appear next to address bar(on right) . Most likely, you will need to start the VPN in the add-on settings.

Installing friGate in Yandex Browser

I think this is The best decision. Everything works well, and it is possible to open only some sites that are blocked via VPN. You can create lists and add your sites there. Many blocked sites are added by default. Installing friGate using the method described above will not work. You need to download the extension file and install it.

friGate can be installed and configured in other browsers: Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Chrome.

VPN add-ons for Mozilla Firefox browser

IN Mozilla browser Firefox can also install the necessary extension. Or configure friGate, which I wrote about above (link is also above).

Go to “Menu” – “Add-ons”.

On the extensions tab, in the search bar we write “vpn”, or the name of a specific extension.

You can go to full list extensions by clicking on the appropriate link below.

I checked Hotspot Shield Free VPN Proxy, Hoxx VPN Proxy, ZenMate Security and Privacy & Unblock VPN.

Hotspot Shield works immediately after downloading and turning on. Hoxx and ZenMate require registration.

After installing VPN, blocked sites will open in Mozilla Firefox. If you don’t like the download speed or stability, you can try another add-on.

Afterword

Don't get carried away with installing everything. Remember, it may not be safe! Look at the rating, reviews, number of installations of the extension.

Of the free solutions, I liked the built-in VPN in Opera browser, and friGate, which can be installed in almost every browser.

Whatever VPN service you use, it has its disadvantages and inconveniences. He needs to be watched (enable or disable), speed and ping may also drop. It is possible that the server through which you are connecting may malfunction.

Don't forget to write comments. Share your advice, opinions, and ask questions.
