Another article about the Samsung CLX-3300 and Samsung CLX-3305 printers. Suitable for other models of Samsung printers CLP-320, CLP-325, CLX-3180, CLX-3185. Not all owners know that they have a resource of cartridges, a drum, a transfer tape, rollers, an oven, and so on. And then suddenly the inscription began to appear on the screen - Preparing. new block. or - replace the iso transfer unit. (picture 1). What does this mean? Everything is simple. This means that in the near future the photoconductor resource will run out, and then the printer will be blocked and will not allow printing at all. In this tutorial, I will try to demonstrate how you can extend the drum life and reset the counter of the Samsung printer's image transfer unit. There are three options for how to proceed. For those with sufficient funds, they can afford a new transfer unit by typing CLT-R407 Image Transfer Unit or Drum Assembly for Samsung CLP-320, CLP-325, CLX-3180, CLX-3185 printer online. For those who are more economical or who are interested in defeating this beast, I describe how to do it. To be honest, how to reset a drum error is described on the Internet very often, but very rarely you can do something with it. It's just that this reset from the menu does not always work. Nevertheless, we try. It will be easier for someone with a printer with a screen and buttons, and for someone without a screen, only the next option remains, but about it a little later, we will finish first with the first option.
So, who has buttons with numbers, we type: menu - hash (#) - 1934, then everything on the screen will change to English, do not be afraid and continue. We type Menu - Tech Menu - Data Setup - Clear Counts - ok-1934 - ok. Here you can reset everything, from rollers to the stove. Platen Scan- ok, move to the right, ADF Scan- ok, move to the right, Transfer Roller- ok, move to the right, Fuser- ok, move to the right, Pickup Roller- ok, move to the right, Imaging Unite- ok, move to the right, Transfer Belt- ok, unplug and plug. The message should reset, but if it doesn't help, try again. Here's another way. We type the menu - the lattice (#) - 1934, then everything on the screen will change to English, do not get scared and continue. We type Menu - Tech Menu - Data Setup - Clear Counts - ok-1934 - ok - Total PageCNT - ok.
For those who do not have number keys, another way to enter the menu service. Quickly type the key combination Menu-> ID Copy-> Left-> Right-> Menu-> Back (Menu-> ID Copy-> Left-> Right->-> Menu-> Back). If the key combination was typed correctly, then the display of the device will show the inscription "Tech Mode". Then you need to go to the Data Setup section and reset the counters by selecting the Clear All Mem / Clear Count operation: Total Page / FLT Scan / ADF Scan / Imaging Unit / Transfer Belt / Fuser / TransferRoller / Tray1 Roller / Tray2 Roller. If the device asks for a password, then you need to enter 1934. After resetting the counters, to exit Tech Mode, just turn the printer off and on. Now the most interesting thing, if this option did not work for you, you need to move on to more global solutions. Open the cartridge replacement door and take out only the black cartridge. Whoever is uncomfortable, you can get everything (picture 2).
In picture 3 we see a highlighted insert of two contacts, so you need to get it.
Just insert a screwdriver into the latches and move towards you.
In the 4th picture we see the insert itself, and you need to either solder it there or simply tie a resistor for a while (as in picture 5).
You can buy this resistor from us here: Samsung Printer Drum Unit Reset Resistor. Now we insert this insert back, also the cartridge and IMPORTANT! In order not to burn the printer, we follow the instructions, since there are a lot of resistors on the Internet for sale of different denominations that are not suitable, and the sellers do not know what needs you need it for. And yet, no one describes that in this way you can burn the device. A lot has been written on this topic, but they do not write about the consequences. SO, WE CLOSE THE DOOR AND LOOK AT THE SCREEN, THE ERROR MUST APPEAR. WE OPEN THE DOOR, AND CLOSE BACK, LITERALLY FOR 2-3 SECONDS AND OPEN. EVERYTHING IS DONE. WE REMOVE THE INSERT AND REMOVE THE RESISTOR. In picture 6 we see that the resistor burned out. This means that the drum unit has been reset.
Insert the insert back into the block and close the door. Next, we wait until the printer thinks and becomes ready. Then the printer will start thinking again, but there will be an inscription about calibration on the screen, and it will stop. Now you can work. In order to make sure that the counter has reset, you need to dial the combination: Menu - System settings - ok - Report - ok - Consumables. – ok – print (yes) – ok. The report should show Life Remaining - 100%.
For those who have not reset, try inserting the resistor back and wait 3-4 seconds, and everything will work out. Did it 100 times. And that's it, everything seems to be, but no. The drum has been reset, but the toner with the waste in it remains, and it needs to be cleaned. To do this, you need a vacuum cleaner with a special filter. Yes, the drum block needs a special approach. But, if you are in St. Petersburg, you can bring it wrapped in a bag to our service center on the street. Rubinshteina, 5 and we will do everything necessary. For a consultation, you can also dial 980-31-05 and the master will advise you. We also posted a video below on how to reset the drum block. We hope that this article will be useful to someone.

Image transfer unit resource (Imaging Unit) for color laser printers CLP 3xx series is 20,000 pages. For the entire period of operation of the printer, working off the surface of the photodrum is cleaned into the hopper of the block.

Undoubtedly, its capacity is designed for such an amount of waste material. But, when this unit is nearing the end of its life, most printers show a print defect in the form of dark streaks in the middle of the copy.

We determine the cause

To accurately determine the culprit of the problem, you need to remove the cartridges after printing the sheet and look at the block itself. The streaks on the sheet will match up with the remaining wear layer on the drum surface.

This indicates an overflow of the mining bunker, but what about the resource, calculations? The reason is different - the operating conditions, the design features of the printer and the relatively low sintering temperature of the toner.

The front plane of the block is located close to the furnace of the image fixing block. Under conditions of poor ventilation or a heavy load on the printer, the temperature in the working compartment rises significantly. Mining is gradually fused into a solid lump, which blocks the possibility of further compaction of the material throughout the volume of the bunker.

At the same time, the seal lever often jams, and the gears of this mechanism, slipping, emit characteristic clicks during operation.

How to disassemble and clean

To troubleshoot the problem, the imaging unit must be disassembled and cleaned. First you need to remove the photoconductor. To do this, pull the locking washers on both sides of the axle and remove it in the indicated direction.

If you take the axle out reverse side you can break or bend the contacts located inside. They are needed for the electrical connection of the working surface of the drum with the axis. In addition, a notch for these contacts is machined on the axis. Later, during assembly, the axle will need to be installed with the correct side - a groove to the gear.

With the photoconductor removed, you can immediately see where the stripes appear on the sheet. Waste toner has filled the entire volume and just wakes up.

Due to inexperience, it may seem that the solution to the problem is simple - just remove the waste with a vacuum cleaner. But this approach will only give a temporary solution, mining will quickly fill the cleared volume and the defect will appear again. And the seal mechanism will still be jammed and knocking.

For a quality repair, the unit must be completely disassembled.

Now you need to remove the left cheek. It is held in by three mounting screws, indicated in the photo.

And another screw that connects the cheek and cleaning blade.

Access to the second blade screw, on the right, is blocked by a bar, which also makes it impossible to remove the charge shaft and its cleaning shaft.

After the left cheek was removed, the transparent bar was released. Remove it by sliding it to the left (yellow arrow in the photo above) until it comes off the right guide pin. Also, now just remove both shafts.

Access to the right screw is still blocked by the same plastic guide pin, pull it until it exits the seat.

After removing all obstacles, unscrew the ill-fated right screw and remove the squeegee. Then we unscrew the three screws securing the right cheek and also remove it. Clean out any hardened wear to free the metal compactor arm. Don't forget to clean the gears.

To compact the waste, the lower lever drives the conveyor mechanism, it moves the toner from the bottom of the hopper to the free volume of the handle. Cured toner interferes with the normal operation of these components, causing waste to accumulate in a small amount near the drum unit.

For further cleaning, parts of the hopper must be separated. They are held together by two screws, which are indicated in the photo above with yellow circles, and two latches at the bottom.

It is easy to remove all the remaining mining from the compartment of the removed handle. After cleaning, you need to check how freely the conveyor bar moves.

The entire cleaning operation described above must also be performed when replacing a worn photoconductor with a new one.

Video of disassembly and cleaning of Samsung CLP 310/315/320/325/365 printers:

Despite the wretchedness of the design, some instances of Samsung CLP-320 printers manage to cross the line of 60,000 prints. After the printer has printed 60,000 copies, the status of the printer monitor starts to strongly remind you to replace the transfer ribbon (ITB) and fuser. Replacement of these nodes is carried out only in authorized Samsung service centers. Self replacement these blocks will not give anything, since in addition to replacing it, you also need to reset the counters. Replacing the required nodes in service center Samsung is not profitable in terms of money, since the cost of replacing blocks significantly exceeds the cost of the printer itself. One of our regular customers asked to reset the counters on the “samsung clp-325” printer.

Resetting the transfer belt and Fuser counters.

Unlike MFPs, in color samsung printers there is no display, which makes it impossible to reset the counters through the service mode tech mode. A search on the forums did not give anything sensible, in connection with which an attempt was made to reset the counters directly by soldering the 24s64 chip. Further, by analogy with the clp-310 printers, the counters were found and reset. Here we were in for a surprise. Any change in the counter led to the inoperability of the device, after passing the full test cycle, all the LEDs on the printer turned red and it ceased to be seen by the computer. Fortunately, the world is not without good people and they lent us service utility Samsung EDC Program.

Samsung EDC Program is a service utility for servicing laser printers.

EDC stands for Engine Diagnostic Control and is a service utility that allows you to run tests of individual components and parts of the device, as well as reset the counters. The utility does not require installation and can be run from a USB flash drive. The utility has a convenient and intuitive interface that allows you to easily diagnose and reset printer components. The counters are reset through the “Maintenance” menu with a simple mouse click. Upload the utility to Free access or send it to the mail at the request of the workers, we will not for ethical reasons.
