Update to Android Marshmallow: HTC

Despite the fact that HTC's plans indicated that the update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the HTC One M9 and HTC One M8 smartphones was to occur before the end of 2015, the company warned that not all mobile operators will be able to distribute it to users .

In January of this year, HTC One M9 owners in Canada began receiving the above update from mobile operators such as Rogers, SaskTel, Videotron and Wind.

In the US, owners of HTC One M8, bound by a contract with the Sprint operator, have also already begun to receive an update to Android Marshmallow. Another American cellular operator, T-Mobile, began sending updates on January 25.

In mid-March, HTC began preparing to release Marshmallow updates for the One E8 and M8 EYE models. At the moment, such updates are only available to Chinese users, but in the near future they will reach European countries.

Now the situation has changed: there are rumors that OnePlus may release an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow for its devices, and this may happen in the near future. It is possible that the first devices to receive such an update will be the latest smartphones from this company, OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X.

Update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow: Samsung

As we know, Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge began receiving an update to the Marshmallow version on February 15 of this year. Many more Samsung devices should receive this update, so you don't have to worry about the fact that your smartphone doesn't have the Marshmallow version yet.

Note that Samsung has not officially commented on its update schedule, although US mobile operator T-Mobile has published its list of devices that will receive the update to Android 6.0, including the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Update to Android Marshmallow: Sony

The Mobipicker website reported that the Wi-Fi Alliance has certified updates to Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the Xperia Z5 smartphone and Z4 tablet. The staff of this site suggested that these devices may receive updates no earlier than February, since a similar certification of updates for the Japanese versions of the Z4 and Z5 took place in December last year. As we know, the update for these versions became available in Japan only from the beginning of March, and from March 7 it was released internationally, including Russia.

Owners of the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact smartphones, which were registered for beta testing, began receiving the first builds of Marshmallow on October 19 last year. Sony has released the official list of devices that will receive the Android Marshmallow update.

Sony

Unlike LG, Sony has published a complete list of devices that will receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow. These include the Xperia Z5 Premium, M5, Z5 Compact, Z4 Tablet, Z2 Tablet, Z3, Xperia Z3+, Xperia C5 Ultra, Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Z3 Compact, C4, M4 and Xperia Z5. Half of the models mentioned will skip Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) and update straight to Marshmallow.

However, the Japanese did not name any specific dates. "We're working hard to bring this major update to as many of our devices as possible, as quickly as possible," Sony said in a blog post.

HTC

On its official Twitter account, HTC managed to promise that the flagship smartphones One M9 and One M8 will receive an update “before the end of the year.” The post, published at the end of September, also stated that the update will definitely affect the One M9, One E9, One ME, One E8, One M8 EYE, Butterfly 3, Desire 826, Desire 820 and Desire 816 models.

With the exception of two flagships, HTC products are unlikely to be updated before the first and second quarters of next year.
