There are several cases in which the postal service may not work. Each of them should be considered possible reasons problems.

Reason 1: Maintenance

Often the access problem is caused by the fact that the service conducts engineering works, or any problems have occurred. In this case, the user will only have to wait until everything is restored. To make sure that the problem is really not on your side, you should do the following:

Reason 2: Browser problems

If the reason discussed above does not apply, then the problem is on the user’s side. It may lie in problems with the browser from which you accessed the mail. In this case, the site may even load, but work very slowly. In this situation, you need to clear your browser history, cache and cookies.

Reason 3: No Internet connection

The simplest reason why mail does not work may be a disconnection of the Internet connection. In this case, problems will be observed on all sites and a window with a corresponding message will appear.

To deal with this problem, you will need to reboot the router or reconnect to Wi-Fi networks, depending on the connection type.

Reason 4: Changes in the hosts file

In some cases, malware makes changes to system files and block access to certain sites. To check if there are changes to such a file, open hosts, located in the etc folder:

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

This document has the same content on all operating systems. Pay attention to the last lines:

# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost

If changes were made after them, you should delete them, returning the original state.

Reason 5: Incorrect data entered

When connecting to a site, you may receive a message stating that the connection is not secure. In this case, you should make sure that the entered Yandex mail address is correct, which looks like this: mail.yandex.ru.

All of the above methods are suitable for solving the situation that has arisen. The main thing is to immediately determine what caused the problems.

Lately, Yandex mail has been regularly crashing. Problems have been observed for the last 2-3 years.

Many experts attribute this situation to internal management problems after the death of Ilya Segalovich. “The company has turned into a bureaucratic monster with an ineffective management system. In 2012, Yandex mail was the simplest, most convenient and efficient mail service in the world.

However, then in 2013-2014 some “brilliant” top managers of Yandex decided to break the mechanism that works like a clock and modernize the mail design.

Yandex mail users still experience the results of this creativity - regular failures, errors and glitches for Yandex mail users have become a daily work routine. Of course, business also suffers from this, because many companies have connected corporate Yandex mail for the domain" - the development director comments on the situation White Square Agency Anton Nesgovorov.

“Perhaps the failures were caused by a DDOS attack on Yandex. Maybe Ukrainian or American hackers are involved in this. Or, perhaps, this is Google’s revenge after the scandalous antitrust case initiated by Yandex,” Alexander Smirnov, an expert on information security White Square Agency.

Users of Yandex.Mail complained about a failure in the service. According to the Downdetector portal, difficulties in using mail client residents of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Ufa, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Khabarovsk and a dozen other cities experience it.

“The mail has gone crazy, it’s giving 502 and 504 errors,” writes a user named Irina. Other commentators complain about the inability to log into Mailbox Yandex, as well as problems with searching, receiving and sending emails.

Gazeta.Ru contacted the company’s press service to find out the nature of the problems.

“A number of users had difficulties accessing Mail, but the light version of the service worked normally. Now the Mail is operating as usual,” said Yandex press secretary Ilya.

The reasons for the failure have not yet been announced. Grabovsky denied information that the failure occurred in other Yandex services - at the moment, only Yandex.Mail was affected.

Many online services regularly experience outages, which greatly irritate or even frighten their users. In March of this year there was a global outage in Telegram messenger— the application refused to send messages. The creator of the messenger hastened to reassure users, saying that the failure had nothing to do with the blocking of the service in Russia, but was to blame for problems in the power supply of one of the data centers.

A month earlier, the Russian social network VKontakte faced a similar situation, which also experienced an accident in its data center.

In November 2017, the popular WhatsApp messenger went down for two hours, which users around the world could not use. “WhatsApp is down and everyone is going crazy,” user Kerem wrote on his Twitter account.

Submit but stand their ground

At the end of August, it was under threat of blocking. The reason for this was the placement of series on the Yandex.Video service.

The affected channels TNT, TV-3, 2x2 and Super declared copyright infringement, and the content included in Yandex.Video was called “pirated”.

Roskomnadzor threatened to block Yandex, which the company called an unfounded threat - responsibility for posting pirated content does not apply to search engines, which means the company does not violate Russian law.

On August 30, Yandex had to comply with the requirements of the supervisory authority, noting that the company still does not agree with the requirements of the RKN, and will try to appeal them in court. However, the controversial content was removed from Yandex.Video.

“If there are no measures on our part, there is a risk that Roskomnadzor will apply a block to Yandex.Video. Blocking Yandex.Video would lead to the inaccessibility of the entire yandex.ru, since this service is located at the address “yandex.ru/video”, and most providers can block traffic only at domain name— in the case of “Yandex.Video” this is “yandex.ru”. In order to minimize the risk of blocking, which would harm Yandex users, we decided to remove from the search all links to pages with controversial works,” the press service said in an official statement.

“A good solution to piracy must satisfy two principles: transparency and equal applicability. We are a rights holder ourselves and will work with other rights holders, regulators and other industry players to create a system that respects both of these principles,” said spokesman Grabovsky.

Roskomnadzor conducted an inspection and found no grounds for blocking.

Later, information appeared that the Moscow City Court rejected private complaints from Yandex representatives about the temporary blocking of pirated copies of Gazprom Media series.

“Private complaints against rulings on the application of interim measures on applications 2#2 (“Beware, earthlings”), TV3 (“Mystical Stories”), Parnas Media (“Outside the Game”) were considered and left without satisfaction, the judges’ rulings were left unchanged.” , said court press secretary Ulyana Solopova.

She also noted that a private complaint against the determination based on the statement of representatives of the TNT company will be considered later.
