If someone does not start NMM after updating:
– If you updated and NMM began to behave strangely or something like that, then it is best to remove NMM completely through “Uninstall programs”, without deleting the mods that you already have installed, do this:
1. Go to “Start” (Windows), then go to “Control Panel”, then go to “Programs” or “Uninstall Programs”, find NMM in the list of installed programs and right-click and click “Uninstall”, it will appear the first window, click “Yes” in it, a second window will immediately appear with the question “Should I delete all configuration files or not?” (in English), here we click “No, in the end NMM itself will be completely removed, but the playlist with mods will remain
2. Next, just run the Nexus Mod Manager.exe installer and always click “Yes” during installation, you don’t need to change anything during the installation process and don’t mark anything, NMM will install itself, that’s all, NMM is installed from scratch, and your mods will remain in NMM

  • IMPORTANT!!! The new version of NMM from 0.60.x onwards includes profiles for mods, which is a great feature of the new version that allows you to have several different mod installations without having to constantly install and uninstall your mod collections. However, in order to make things work, this new version of NMM will make some major changes to the way it installs and make the use of mods on your hard drive. As a result, NMM Manager will uninstall and then re-attempt to reinstall your mods as they were before. It will take a little work for the manager to get your settings working properly again. If you're in a hurry and just want to play games without a hasty installation, now is not the best time to install this version of NMM. If you have 5 minutes, now is the time to install this version of NMM and use the new functionality of this version.
First, I’ll tell you what Nexus Mod Manager is. This is a utility that helps you install mods for your favorite games. It simplifies the installation of mods in just a couple of mouse clicks, which in turn saves your precious time.

In this guide we will answer three questions:

  1. Installing and configuring Nexus Mod Manager.
  2. Enabling mod support in Fallout 4 and more.
  3. Installing the mod.
Some of the games that are supported by NMM (Nexus Mod Manager):
  • XCOM 2
  • Fallout 4
  • TES V:Skyrim
  • TES V:Skyrim Special Edition
  • Fallout:New Vegas
  • Fallout 3
  • State of Decay
  • TES IV:Oblivion
  • TES III: Morrowind
  • Dark Souls
  • Dragon Age 2
  • Starbound
  • War Thunder
  • World of Tanks
  • Dark Souls 2
  • Dragon's Dogma
  • The Witcher 2
  • Dragon Age Origins
  • Legend of Grimrock
  • TES:Online
  • The Witcher 3:Wild Hunt
  • X Rebirth
The full list of games can be viewed on the website.

Today, there are two ways to install mods in Fallout 4: installation using the Nexus Mod Manager utility or manually. The first method is convenient and simple, although it requires installing the utility, but the second is inconvenient because you need to copy files by hand, and for some mods there are also and its installation features.

A huge advantage of the NMM program is that you do not have to download each mod for Fallout 4 separately, and then manually copy the files to the game directory, setting up the configuration files. Not only can this replace the necessary files and the game will stop launching, but it is also inconvenient and often incomprehensible.

Register on Nexusmods.

To download NMM (Nexus Mod Manager), you will need to register on the official website.

Registration:

Registration on the Nexusmods website is required both to download add-ons and to operate the Nexus Mod Manager utility. A short description of how to register.

How to download?

Nexus Mod Manager is no longer supported. You can download the latest version from GitHub. You need to download the file Nexus.Mod.Manager-0.65.11.exe

To download NMM, go to your account on Nexusmods and click Instal NMM:

On the page that opens we see the following:

Click:

  • Download(Vista,Win7,8,10) - For Windows Vista,7,8,10.
  • Download Legacy(Win XP) - For Windows XP.

How to install?

For the utility to work correctly, you need NET Framework 4.6.1

After downloading, run the file:

Installation process:

Step 1
After launch, we see the following:
Click Next >

Step 2
We agree to the license agreement. Put a tick next to "I accept the agreement" and press Next >

Step 3
Click Next >(read if you want)

Step 4
Select the directory where we want to install NMM.

Step 5
Create a folder in the Start menu. Click Next > If you do not want to create a folder in the Start menu, then put a checkmark next to - "Don't create a Start Menu folder"

Step 6

Enabling mod support in Fallout 4

  1. Open the file Fallout4Prefs.ini and find a category in it .

Add the following line below this line:

    bEnableFileSelection=1

  2. Save your changes and close the file.
    1. If you are playing on a game version lower than 1.2, open the file Fallout4.ini and find the following text in it:

      sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\

    2. Replace it with this:

      sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\, MUSIC\, SOUND\, INTERFACE\, MESHES\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\

    3. Save your changes and close the file.
  3. If you have patch 1.2 and higher installed, then make changes to Fallout4.ini not necessary, but needs to be changed Fallout4Custom.ini(If there is no such file, then create it).
  4. Open Fallout4Custom.ini and add the following lines to it:

    bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
    sResourceDataDirsFinal=

  5. That's it, now the game is completely ready to install mods. Despite the apparent complexity, it is simple, and you only have to do it once. But mods can now be installed in a couple of clicks.

First start.

  1. After the first launch we see the following:

The program searches for games on your computer that support mods. In order not to wait, press the button Stop searching, since the utility will quickly find all installed games that support mods.

  2. Then click on the green checkmarks for those games for which you will install mods. (For example, Fallout 4) If you do not want to install mods on the found games (for example, Fallout 3), click on the red cross 2 times. (In some cases, 1 time)
  3. After choosing which games to bet on and which not to, click OK. And we get the following result:

Click on the red figure in the lower left corner and enter in the window that appears the login and password with which you registered on the Nexusmods website.

Considering the somewhat technical dullness of this article, I’ll tell you about the installation using the example of a modification that emphasizes the femininity of the main character of the game, dressing her in rather attractive clothes. You can also wear these clothes to your partner or any settler. Here is the link:

On the page with the mod, only the three left menu tabs are of interest to us:

    • DESC
    • FILES
    • IMAGES

As you might guess, the first paragraph contains a description of the mod, the second contains files for downloading, and in the third you can see screenshots.

On the FILES tab, click the green button "DOWNLOAD WITH MANAGER" to download the mod. There are usually several versions of a modification presented on the download page, but you need to choose the latest one (just look at the release date). Or select "download manually" to download the mod manually. Then you definitely need to study the “DESC” tab to find out how to install it.

While pressing "DOWNLOAD WITH MANAGER" The manager program must be open. Nexus Mod Manager will begin downloading files, after which you will see this mod in the program interface.

Activate the downloaded mod by clicking on the green checkmark in the manager window. If the mod has an ESM or ESP file (these files are determined by the loading order), then open the “Plugins” tab and activate everything that is there by checking the boxes.
That's it, the mod works! All that remains is to launch the game and enjoy the new features.

We present to your attention our unique development, thanks to which you can add modifications to the game with one click directly on the website. So, let's look at the mechanism of the program in more detail.

First, you need to install Mod Manager itself. This can be done by downloading the installer.

If you have installed modifications from our website before, then when you first launch Mod Manager will automatically find installed games and add them to its database. If you have never installed mods from our site, then you need to first add at least one game. To do this, click on the "Add game" button:

Select the type of game and the folder in which it is located.

Now you can download any mod from the site via Mod Manager. Go to the description of any mod, for example this one. And click on the link "Download from our server via Mod Manager". As usual, you will see a page before the download. After waiting 10 seconds, clicking on the download button will show you the following prompt:

Check the "Do not show dialogue" box, click "Yes" and after a while this mod will be added to the list of mods for the selected game.

If you have several identical games installed in different folders, then this modification will appear in each such game.

But the installation is not finished yet! Now all that remains is to activate the mod in the game. To do this, go to the list of modifications and click the checkbox next to the modification that you want to activate in the game and after a few seconds you can safely enter the game with a new modification or continue downloading mods from our website.

In order to remove any modification from the game, just click on the checkbox again. The modification will be removed from the game, but will remain in the list in case you want to install it in the future.

For now, Mod Manager is at version 0.1 beta. We just made it, so there may be some errors in it. If something similar arises, please write to the forum.

Any game can be made more interesting and exciting by adding your own mods. You can change the appearance of characters, improve game mechanics, and in general make the game of your dreams. Such features are available in the Nexus mod manager utility. The process of installing and configuring this program is quite long, but after that you will be able to install mods for games in just two clicks: the program itself will do all the work. And we will help you with this.

Registration

First, check out the list of supporting games. This can be done directly on the main page of the site:

Don't worry if you haven't found your favorite game, you can use the search:

Scrolling up the page you will see the inscription “not logged in”. Click on it and select “create an account” from the drop-down menu.

Click “REGISTER”.

Be careful not to check any boxes on the menu. These are paid subscriptions that you do not need at this stage. Just scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Create Account”

Enter your login, which you need to create, and also:

  • Email for confirmation.
  • A strong password repeated twice.
  • What's your gender.
  • Answer to the question in English. If you have a low level of English proficiency, then the problem can be easily solved by online translators.
  • Enter the captcha.

Don't forget to check the box below indicating that you agree to the license agreement.

Now go to your email and look for an email from nexusmods. Follow the link in this email to activate your account.

Using the received data, we enter the site.

Step 2:

Working with Nexus Mod Manager

Select your version, which depends on your Windows system.

In the pop-up window, click “Click to download NMM”.

Don't forget to specify the desired installation directory and accept another license agreement.

Check all the boxes in the menu to set up the correct file association.

Almost everything is ready, click “Install”.

Step 3:

Setting up and adding games to Nexus mod manager

Immediately after installation, the Nexus mod manager will load and begin scanning your computer for games. In this case, one game was found - Fallout 4. Adding mods and using the utility will be shown using its example.

If there are no other games on your computer, then simply click “Stop Searching” at the bottom of the window. Click on the green checkmark next to the game to add it to the catalog

Now click “Quick Startup”.

You only have one window left to configure. Here you need to specify the path to save the mods. If you are satisfied with the path that the program itself has chosen, then simply click “Finish”, but if you want to choose a different directory location, then click on the three dots and install the folder yourself.

Adding games to the Nexus mod manager catalog happens exactly like this. If the program cannot find the game even though it is installed on your computer, then simply pave the path manually.

Step 4:

How to install mods via Nexus mod manager

Go to the official website, scroll down the page: you will see a catalog of games. Click on yours. In this article we will look at installing mods using Fallout 4 as an example.

A large selection of mods will open before you. Choose the one you want by carefully reading the description for it. Once you select click on the “DOWNLOAD (NMM)” tab

Confirm your request.

The mod will automatically download, you just need to find it. To do this, click on the “Mods” tab and find your mod sorted by category. Click "Install and activate".

As you can see, everything turned out to be much simpler than it seemed.

Installing mods from third-party resources

But you ask: “What should I do if I downloaded a mod from a third-party resource and want to install it through NMM?” The answer is simple:

Click on the big plus in the upper left corner.

In this case, we install the modification “Wasteland 512 Textures” as an example. Select the necessary archives and click open, and then proceed according to the diagram above. Click on the “Mods” tab and find your mod sorted by category. Click "Install and activate".

This part of the article is under development...

Many avid fans of computer games know how much a well-crafted game mod can transform a game. Texture detailing is improving, game AI is growing, new characters are appearing, and the gameplay is becoming more exciting. At the same time, installing a new mod may be associated with the elimination of minor problems that could potentially negate all the advantages of this mod. This is where special programs for installing mods come to our aid, and I will focus on one of them, called “Nexus Mod Manager” in this material. In which I will tell you what Nexus Mod Manager is, how to install it, and how to use this program on your PC.

What is Nexus Mod Manager

Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) is a free, open-source program that allows you to download, install, and update mods for a range of popular games.

The functionality of NMM is fully automated; all processes are completed in a couple of clicks, saving the user from various installation routines. Disabling (deleting) a previously installed mod is carried out no less quickly, allowing you to avoid wasting time searching and deleting the corresponding files in the game body.

To install the desired mod, you just need to select it, then Nexus Mod Manager will download and install this mod into the desired game directory on your PC.

Among the games supported by NMM is the popular action/RPG “Fallout 4”

How to download Nexus Mod Manager

  1. In order to start using Nexus Mod Manager, you will need to download this program from the website Nexusmods.com.
  2. Go to this site, click on the inscription “not logged in” at the top, and in the window that opens, select “create an account” (create an account).
  3. On the page that opens, click on the “Register” button on the right (nexus mod manager registration), scroll down the page that opens and click on the “Create Account” button.

Click on “Create Account” to create an account

  1. In the registration window, enter your name or nickname (Username), email, password for your account (Password), the same password again (Confirm Password), indicate your gender (Gender).
  2. You will then be asked to answer a question in English by the program, which wants to make sure that you are not a bot.
  3. If you do not know English at the proper level, then I recommend using translator programs that will help you give the English version of the correct answer to the specified question.
  4. Then enter the captcha in the appropriate row, check the box next to “I’ve read and agree to the Terms of Use,” and click on the “Create Account” button.
  5. A registration confirmation letter will be sent to your e-mail, and after clicking on the appropriate link in it, you will be able to log into the site using the previously selected login and password.

Now download Nexus Mod Manager, selecting the appropriate version for your operating system, and install this program on your PC.

How to use Nexus Mod Manager

When you first launch NMM, it will automatically search your PC for games it supports. If necessary, you can interrupt the process by independently checking or unchecking the desired games. If the Nexus Mod Manager does not find at least one of the supported games, it will terminate early. You can directly tell the program the path to the game, without having to wait for NMM to find the game on your computer (click on the button with three dots next to the name of the desired game).

Then you will need to select one of the installed (and found by NMM on your computer) games with mods for which you want to work.

If you want to change the game you are currently working with, then click on the button in the upper right corner (Default game). You can also rescan your computer for NMM-supported games by clicking on “Rescan Installed Games”.

There are two main tabs on the main screen - “Mods” and Plugins (plugins for mods).

To install the mod, you will need to find it on one of the Internet resources. For example, you can use the already mentioned site Nexusmods.com, which contains a huge number of mods for NMM-supported games (for example, mods for the game Fallout 4).

  1. Go to Nexusmods.com, click on the “Files” tab, click on “Browse files”.
  2. Select the desired mod, in the mod description window that opens, go to the “Files” tab.
  3. Here you click on the “Download with manager” button, select the download using the “Nexus Mod Manager” auxiliary tool, and click on “Open link”.
  4. The selected mod will be downloaded to the PC using NMM, and will appear in the program's list of mods. To activate it, click on it, and then click on the button with the big green checkmark on the left.
  5. To manually add a mod that is already on our computer, just click on the green plus sign in the main NMM window and point the program to the path to the desired mod on your hard drive.
  6. After it is downloaded and appears in the list of available mods, it must also be activated by clicking on the green checkmark.
  7. To launch the game with the mod we have chosen, click on the large button at the top left “Launch (game name)”.
  8. If you need to disable a previously installed mod, then click on the desired mod and select “Diactivates the selected mod” on the left or double-click on the line with this mod.
